Repowering skid loader

Has anyone done this on a 330 Owatana? It now has a Onan 2 cylinder. If so what did you use for a engine. I checked with small engine wharehouse and they tell me they have nothing for that particular model although I think it is about the same as John Deere 70 skid loader. Thanks

I repowered my J.D. 70 with a Briggs. Off hand I can't remember the model. Think it was 21 hp. Built some mounts out of 2" sq. tubing. Lined right up. The Briggs engine was governed lots faster hence I could drive across the yard about 10 mph. Used it a lot of years like that. Finally last summer sold it and bought a forklift.

I repowered our Owatonna 330 skid loader a year ago. I think it was from Repower Specialists. I looked on their website and then called them. I ordered a Honda engine kit from them. It came with everything I needed and fit right in. I'm very satisfied. I can get you more details if you want.

I believe that has a 24 hp onan which is slightly bigger than the 18-20 hp engines. You may have to put a spacer of sorts under a new engine to line up the crank height. If I remember correctly, that machine has a chain coupler to attach the engine to the hydros. Shouldn't be a problem to replace it(or half of it) if you cant find an engine with the correct size shaft.

There's a lot of v twin options out there from 20 to 30some hp. Honda, Kohler, Vanguard, and even Harbor Freight Predator..
