So he has a set of doubles with the trailer as the fifthwheel for the second. I hauled an old ford truck home something like that with the bed tilted up some so the frame of the towed truck would clear for turning. Only had about 5 miles to go. I just chained it in the middle of the front axle so it could work like a fifth wheel on the bed swivel was the tires of the towed truck on the bed floor.

Best picture yet. Why didn't they just drive the scraper. I hope they didn't go over 30 mph. What about stopping or going downhill.

My first image of a pan was when the Eastern 49 miles of what is now I-90 in northern Indiana was built in 1954. I spent many hours fishing on the lake they
created. They were LeTurneau. My Family lake is also made by scrapers. Double Barreled Euclids being pushed by 2 D-8 cats to manage the clay. Jim

Remember when you were a kid and your dad would buy a pack of chuckles. That looks like someone opened the pack and tipped them out. You have orange, lemon, lime, and cherry. The only one missing is the licorice truck. Neat!

Janicholson;
The Toll Road went right through the middle of our families farm on the east side of Fremont. I remember watching the "Tourn-a-pulls" as they ripped through our fields. We later moved to Toccoa, GA where LaTourneau had a Plant where they made these machines. I went to school with Mr. LaTourneau's Grandson. Dsmythe

remember climbing around on those as a young child & thinking, where is the steering wheel? Just a 1/2" pipe bar that the operator has both hand on in the picture. How did that steering system work? Anyone know?

think, but am not certain, that they were pivoted by a clutch based worm and sector at the pivot. The Westinghouse relationship meant Diesel Electric drive, and
electric wenches. Jim
