Does anyone know fuel pressure for injection pump on a 4020

Fuel INLET pressure is usually 3-5 PSI. Depends what injectors engine has far as what the injector opening pressure is set at, and what pump must overcome during injection to open them at the correct time. PLEASE tell us you are NOT dead heading a pressure gauge on an injection line! That must NEVER be done on ANY injection pump!

I can only imagine how many pieces the pump would end up in if someone tried that

Well first the one piece drive shaft would become two when it broke, and the two main parts of the head/rotor would become one when it seized. On inline pumps the barrel would split lengthwise. Have seen BOTH happen in over forty years of diesel injection repair..
