WHO REPLACES BROKEN CRAFTSMAN TOOLS

Our ACE hardware store sells Craftsman tools. On TV I saw and add for Lowe's saying they were Craftsman tool dealers, might try one of those.

From Craftsman.com:

Full Lifetime Warranty
If the product fails to perform for any reason, we will replace it. Return damaged product to a stocking Retail Partner or call 1-888-331-4569 for details. No proof of purchase required.

Note: Same Warranty for all New Craftsman Models (Model # starting with ?CMHT?) and older models (Model # starting with ?9?)

Certain Exclusions: Warranty does not cover expendable parts which can wear from normal use (i.e. blade in a knife)

One of my co-workers took a couple of Craftsman ratchets to a Lowe's and they replaced them. Closest Lowe's to me carries Craftsman boxes and tools. Another co-worker got a Kobalt box set that's being painted Craftsmsan RED now, same style/design!!

Your comment did nothing to answer the question. Fact is the ratchet has server me well for almost 30 years.

My local Ace Hdw. did mine as others have said. I have a so called Quality SK ratchet that I haven't been able to get replaced anywhere.

SK has had their own troubles in the past. Also read the fine print carefully, SK warranty does not cover normal wear from use.

You have to be careful trying to get an exchange. The part numbers of the tool must match. Problem is if you are trying to exchange an older tool the part numbers are not the same even though the tool is the same. I have had several sockets that I could not get replaced due to the part number issue. I feel that they are trying to get out of honoring the warranty.

Good luck going this route. I tried it a while back and all they would say is take to a retail store and exchange it. I told the gal there is no local Sears store anymore but she kept saying take it to one. I finally remembered Ace sold them so took it in and they exchanged it no questions asked.

Lowes or Ace if they carry them in your location.
I still have a Sears locally. I took a broken ratchet in, they wanted
to give me a "rebuilt" one out of a box under the counter instead
of a new one. Luckily, they didn't have one like mine so they had
to get one off the rack. Not sure how the conversation would have
went otherwise. They are cheap tools now. Not what they used to be.

That doesn't hold true . A while back I wore out a ratchet that was built back in the late 30s and they replaced it no questions asked or look up any numbers.

Last SK tool I broke they wouldn't replace at a store. Had to call and wait for parts to show up in the mail. Of course they were the wrong parts so I still don't have a good SK breaker bar anymore.

We do not have sears or ACE. As some said lows has some newer ones. But that said Wilson you may have to eat it, look on evil bay or buy a different brand. That's the routes I took. Also lots of this older stuff does not cross. You can get a ratchet or wrench but not the same.

I was in Lowe's this morning, I noticed Craftsman boxes all along the main entry aisle. I was not looking for tools, so I did not notice the prices.
