A Little Work On The Flathead

Weather warmed up a bit so I traded places with the two Mercs. The 53 parts car had been taking up space in the workshop for a year now and I wanted to get the 52 driver in there to work on it. So I did a little switch and some work on the cooling system. I was surprised to find a thermostat in one of the spare parts car's heads. The 52 has none in it. I think the popular belief was that thermostats slowed the flow of coolant and the old flatheads tended to run hot anyway, so most left them out.

No, those are my two younger brothers in the photo posted here. I was likely in school at the time of this photo. I do show up on the thumbnail photo of the video though.
