Hello to all on the forum,
I regret to inform you that my dad, John Close, AKA the Carvel Farmer, passed away on December 31, 2018. He enjoyed his conversations with the folks on this forum.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, Jan 5th at the Onoway Community Hall at 1 pm, should anyone like to attend.
Thank you for being his friend and sharing your knowledge with him. All the best to you and yours.

I had been wondering where he's been. Never knew him by his name, but Carvel Minne Farmer was one of the nicest and most polite people on the forum. He joined up here shortly after I did.

There were questions I would have liked to ask, but wasn't yet ready for the information so didn't. But he would have been happy to help, as always.

Will keep you and your family in our prayers.

Is this the guy that did such beautiful work rebuilding the Lincoln SA 200 welding machines with the Continental engines?

He always took the time to answer everyone's questions and had a genuine interest in the people here. I'm sure all who were close to him will miss him greatly--as will we. My thoughts are with you and your family.

So sorry for your loss and thank you for letting us know.
Thoughts and prayers to you and the rest of your family.

He was a friendly guy on the forum and loved to talk about his Moline M5’s. Will be missed for sure. Sad news indeed.

The loss of tractor content is always dramatic when we loose one of our own. May he find the peace a farm rarely provides unless you find yourself looking out the hayloft door while it rains gently on your fields, sitting an a fresh made bale of alfalfa. Jim

My thoughts go out to the family. I believe that was the dad of the welder rebuild posts and pictures that we have all have seen and enjoyed.

Thank you so much for your post. More times than not, our YT family members have passed on to a better life, and we don't know about it.
I for one really appreciate that you realized your dad had many friends here, and we all will miss his presents.
Best wishes to you and all your family in this time of loss.
Loren

I'm sorry to hear this. I enjoyed his energy and the exacting manner that he used to rebuild the welders. He will be missed. Gods blessings as you

Very sorry to hear of his passing.
Condolences to you and your family. He
will be missed.

He posted on a post of mine, I knew right away, he was a person, I would love to meet. I am deeply sorry for your lost. I found him a special man

OOH NO! been thinking of him last little while, as have not heard from him. I finally got a new lap top so posted my Minneapolis U a few days ago for him as he wanted to see it. I guess that did not happen. kinda shocked now. was also expecting him at the tractor pulls in linaria in july but he didn't show up. sorry to hear this.

Sorry to hear that. He was the one rebuilding old welders wasn't he, looked like new when done.

Sorry for your family's loss. His posts will be missed at YT by many.

I personally followed many of his Minnie Mo M5 tractor posts with interest as my Grandpa also had a M5 tractor in the late 1960's and early 1970's. He retired and the tractor was sold before I ever really got old enough to experience it first hand so his posts were an indirect way for me to learn.

Very sorry to hear the passing of your dad. His posts were always a cheery bright spot. He will be
missed by many. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Thank you so much for posting this and letting us know of his passing.

He was a true craftsman in the restorations he did, and I always enjoyed his posts and his photos of his projects.

PEACE to you and your family.

Makes me sad he has passed. His dedication, passion, and enthusiam came through in his posts.

This is sad news. The folks on this forum enjoyed his polite and well written posts. He was always positive about his next project. My thoughts and prayers go out to his son and family. Rest in Peace, Carvel Minnie Farmer. unc
