4020 differential shaft dummy shaft tool

Buddy is trying to put his bottom drive shaft back in his tractor he had a shift collar go bad on his 4020 gas , manual states that you need to use some sort of dummy shaft and brace to help align the bottom shaft I guess, are these two tools available for sale or obsolete or what do they do?

Those assembly shafts have not been available for 30 years or more. Truthfully I rarely ever used them.

Hopefully your buddy set the shaft up with just the bearings to set preload/endplay and gear mesh. Then like Jd said forget about the dummy shaft and start assembling.

I have a few of them here, I use them. I don't have one for 84/86's, but there is a little more room in them to work in.

What he was gonna do was press in bearing race and put bearing in then slide shaft in rear to forward however he was gonna stick a little bit out just so he can start sliding stuff on it then seat snap rings.
