mecum auction best of 2018

I normally don't get RFD channel at home. Was at another house yesterday and saw the best of 2018 auctions. Still can't believe a JD 4520 sold for IIRC $ 61,000 ? doesn't seem too long ago but maybe 25 years now they would only bring $ 6,500 Back then you could get more out of a 4020 !
 
Years ago I remember seeing a list of the 10 worst Deere tractors and the 4520 was on it.---Tee
 
Maybe a special wheel configuration, or some other feature? First or last serial number maybe? Those things can really jack up the price. Some crazy auction results, and then some things seem to be giveaways .... go figure !! I have Velocity TV and watch some of the BJ auction plus some Mecum auctions. The Mecum TV versions aren't really a TV event like the BJ auctions are. Only seen cars and trucks, never tractors but Mecum has tractor-only auctions I think.
 
I don't put a whole lot of stock in what things bring on that sale. Yes,there are some super nice tractors sold,but don't confuse them with average tractors for sale or on farm auctions. It's like collector cars on the Barret Jackson auction.
 
I will agree. The JD 4520 was a pig in the field. BIG and heavy with not much power. The JD 4620s where just a little better. I bought several of them in the 1990s just to part out. The JD 4520s could be bought for $3500-4500 at a lot of sales.
 
Used to watch the Mecum auctions but anymore think they just show the high end sales majority of the time, seems they are mainly promoting their auctions!! I could be wrong, wouldn?t be the first time and doubt it will be the last!!! And they do have car auctions too, have seen couple on the tube!!!
 
Didn't Deere have a program or recall and you could make a 4620 out of them-inter-cooler and ?---Tee
 
At a local farm auction a few weeks ago here in ohio a 4320 with a narrow front brought 45000.
 
It was not a recall just a parts KIT that would do it. The Also had a kit to switch the injections pumps too. Most guys skipped it and just bought a JD 4430. Then turn it up just a little bit and it would dust the JD 4520/4620.
