Oliver 1800 Restoration project

Been doing alot of work painting and assembling parts the past few weeks on our restoration project. Finally got the motor and 2speed set back in the tractor and the rear wheels and centers put on. Now going to start plumbing all new fuel lines and making up anew wire harness. It seems like there is always some part or bolt that needs to be cleaned up and painted doing a project like this. It should all be worth it when it's done and all shined up.

It will be well worth it indeed. As nice as you have the cast pieces looking, I can't wait to see how nice the tin ends up looking.

That?s really going to nice when ur done, something to be proud of for sure!!! It?s a lot of time and work, not mention costly but definitely worth it!!!!

Super clean job. Is it a C series then? I'd like to restore an A series before I get too old to do it.

Thanks. Well it turned into a show tractor now... Lol
It started out as just a good going over and freshen up. It may see some light work now and again so it gets used and make sure everything stays working.

Yes it will be and thank you! We are looking forward to taking it to a few shows and our local steam show this year.

Yes 1963 C series. We have a A series that's still being used and also another 64 C series. I have been seeing a few A series for sale lately. Now that your orchard is done you could put one on your list of things to do. Lol.... Thank you also

Thank you! We will see how it goes. I am not a body work guy so it will be alittle challenge but we'll give it a try. Most of the tin work is in pretty good shape, the rear fenders are probably the worst of it.

Thanks man! Maybe I can get Sherry to drive it sometime Lol!. I don't know how the wife would feel about that.. This is actually "her tractor".

Oh ya it's nice isn't.. I just welded that up to hold it. I had it just sitting on the blocks before and someone borrowed my good stand so this worked for now. I did actually pull the pan off and change the rod bolts while it was setting on there before painting it.

Ya,the wife's Super 55 is sitting in the shop right now,but something else will have to go in there when that's done. The former AGCO dealer has an A series gas in on consignment that can be had for $2000. It should probably be sitting in my barn right now. Anything to keep me from getting that 70 back in and fooling with that again.

Sounds to me like you talked yourself right into it! Thats a pretty good price is it a gas tractor? I would like to find a gas 1800 with a narrow front someday.

Thank you. We are trying to do a nice
job. I have been told that I am too
meticulous sometimes but I just like
things a certain way Espically when doing
a project like this. I guess maybe that's why I
have so many projects to do..

That looks great. When can you come to Il and do a 2150?
We are Case but have done some 77 s. We have a 2150 that needs done.

Well, my brother has an Oliver 1855 for sale......gas engine needs overhaul, the fuel pump leaked gas into the crankcase and took out the bearings. Still runs but noisy. Overall very good condition. He's asking 4000 Canadian, that's about 3000 US

The 1800 A Series had a unique look to them. They had a checkerboard decal on the side of the hood instead of the Cockshutt spear with the Oliver name on it. Only made for a few years.

Restoring my dream tractor. I’d love to have a C series 1800. It’s on my list of to buys along with a 1950T.

That A series looks really nice. If I could put the dash of a C on one I would be the owner of one. I just don’t care for the dash and how the throttle is.

The A series with the checker board decal
are definitely nice looking. We have one
of those also it was my FIL's tractor.
The throttle control and column on the
A's came from the 770/880 setup, those
tractors were still being made in 1960
when the 1800 came out. Once Oliver went
to the B series with the tilt/telescopic
column they had to redesign the throttle
linkage.
The dash on the tractor I am redoing has
6 gauges in it now, originally it only
had 5. There was no Oil PSI gauge when it
came from the factory, someone hacked up
the gauge panel and put in a cheap gauge.
I fixed it up and it will have all new
Oliver style gauges in it.

We also have a 1950T. The engine needs a
rebuild that's next winter's project but
that will be a work tractor so not sure
how far of a resto it will get. I do
have a set of fender tanks for it also.

Thank you.! No painting is done in the shop/garage. It is attached to my house so we park vehicles in there at night during the winter. So it doubles as shop for now it is 30x48 so not your average house garage also I built high enough for a lift. Someday I would like to build a shop and attach it to my pole barn. Anyway we have a separate small garage that we turned into a paint booth. It's off site but makes it nice to keep all the overspary and fumes contained to one small area. I will paint outside weather permitting.

Thanks. I'll put it on the list of one's to do... It's going to be awhile though, probably years. I always liked the look of 2150's, is it a MFWD? Then maybe I would have to come out and take it off your hands. This 1800 came from IL south of Springfield.

That is exactly what I would like someday. Just like the one in your picture. Is is that the tractor from the auction a few months ago out by you? Did you ever hear about the other auction that was cancelled around the same time?
