Pulley knowlege?

So I have a CA Allis that I am fixing up and plan to put a belly mower on it. The pto would turn a pulley 540 rpm, but the shaft for the belt pulley would run much faster. That shaft is tapered and has a keyway. Is that taper hard to come by? Did other tractor brands use the same taper? Could I just buy a hub that has different pulleys that bolt to it? OH and Happy New Years!

Sounds like you are wanting to put a v-belt pulley in place of the flat pulley? You would need measurements of the large and small diameters and length of the taper, and the key size. As gene b said, Browning, top quality but $$$. Start there but look for equivalents in other brands. Jay-Dee V Belts may have something. You'll need the belt pulley RPM and size the new pulley to get the proper speed for the mower.

That's what our Farmall C has to drive the Woods belly mower, never had it off, don't know if it's tapered or not. I'm sure you could get one from Woods if nowhere else.

What mower? The pulley Woods provides for a belly mower on an AC is tapered/sized to go on the belt pulley shaft. It's only about an 8" pulley. The pulley they use on a 540 PTO shaft is more like a 16" pulley.
