Was at my family Christmas party yesterday and my oldest brother showed me this picture of our dad on the hay truck.Picture was taken in Southern California in the late 40's.My grandfather and him started in the dairy business about that time.Trying to figure out what kind of truck that is.Thought maybe a Diamond T but not sure.Anyone know?

Thank's Paul

I didn't realize that such trucks back then were made in extended cab/crew cab design. I remember seeing some 60's and 70's models in medium duty, but nothing like that.

Thanks for the pic!!

diamond T probably 921 series were seeing the dawning of intrigal sleepers for trucks, but you better not be over 5'2 and 150 to be comfortable in there

Bale size ...... anyone guess what size the bale is that the fellow is handling at the top? Looks a bit bigger than what we might call small square bales these days.

If the bales were put up in the late 40's, there is a good chance they are three wire hand tied, and very heavy. Probably bailed with a stationary baler. Have any idea what part of Southern Calif. the picture was taken? Stan

Think bales weighed about 95 lbs.I was just a little kid on the dairy back in the sixties and all the bales were three string wire bales that weighed around 110 lbs but they were handled with a truck mounted boom that would fly the bales between the truck and the haystack, was a two man operation.

Most folks are saying Diamond "T". Tag on hood over headlite and badge on radiator. That is FAR from a normal truck. As another said there was alot of "Westcoast" stuff that was built twice as heavy as anything else. What a cool looking rig and what a combination. Great picture. Who ever took the picture had some decent equipment. Leaning towards a Nikon or even a 2X2 or 2x3 medium format. Notice how clear things are. Great depth of field. I could be all wet but that is a great image. Guess there are no low bridges in that part of California? Would be one heck of a short stop.
