Now that's a memory. My best friend in high school had a 52 Rocket 88. Light green like the one near the start of the clip. Not fast on take off but she would cruise smooth.

My Dad had a 1949 4 dr Rocket 88. Had a 303 V8 with the Hydromatic transmission. They really enjoyed driving that car.

I still have the 1964 olds super 88 , 394 rocket engine I drove to school. that was like 44 years ago.

My first car was an Olds dynamic 88 with 371 V8. It was the same color as one in picture but didn't have rear fender skirts.

Looks like a 1960, D.

My father bought a 1958 Oldsmobile 98 with 312 HP, 371 CI J2 Tri-Power engine and 4 speed hydromantic transmission when I was in the 7th or 8th grade. It had PS, PB, PW, power seats, Wonder Bar radio and everything else that was available in 1958. It was also the first air conditioned car that I had ever seen.

He still had it when I got my drivers license a few years later.

What a ride!

I bought the car in 1967 from a chevy dealer for $800.00 and it only 36,000 original miles. My dad worked with guy that traded in for a custom van. I ran it for a number of years and gave to my sister that was going to college and see ran it the four years in college. We sold it when sister got new car for a gradation. We sold it with 120,000 miles and guy that bought it used it as a work car for another 6 years that we know of.

My dad had a 58 olds also. He use to pull into a gas station and just wait for the station guy to come and ask him where to put the gas in at. It had a pretty neat hidden filler in the tail light. The whole taillight would lay over and expose the filler.

(quoted from post at 10:17:39 12/30/18) What memories, I had that exact car, color, except mine was a 2 door. Ellis

me too, except is was blue, two door , lots of chrome, big engine, and oh, it was also a ford.

The folks had a 51 light green rocket 88. Drove it to high school a few times. It would out drag what anybody else had at the time. Next town over a guy had a 55 Olds and it was hard to beat.

My first car was a '51 2 door sedan. Bought it in Altus, Ok. in 1960, my first duty station for about $65 I borrowed from my grandpaw......and never paid back.......a lesson to be reversed later on in life when my turn came. Made many trips to Houston to see my high school sweetheart. Have a picture of them in the albums somewhere around here.
