A few weeks ago our cat got bit by something and his paw got
infected. Our vet lives just up the road the clinic was closed
from a snow storm. I texted him a picture of it and he offered
to come out. I said we can bring it to his house if it?s ok and he
said sure. By this point you can likely tell where this is going
but here goes anyways lol. He gave him a 2cc shot of
penicillin,we were there not long,I?m guessing maybe 15-20
min? Anyways the bill came and the clinic charged us $87 for
him poking the cat in the rear with a shot of penicillin. That?s
all fine,I know it takes almost 10 years of university to become
a vet and I don?t doubt his student loan payment would make
most people?s head spin. He is a really good vet and I?m sure
his bill was more than fair all things considered and because
we chose to bring the cat to him doesn?t matter. I guess what?s
got me bummed out is everything we need is more expensive
than it was the previous time and everything we have for
product to sell is either at a 6 yr low or in cattle sales a 20+
year low just makes me sick of doing what I?m doing. I know
I?m getting out of dairy and in our case it?s for the best,I do
hope I get the chance someday to install a couple of plugs for
him down the road and return the favour by billing him the
going rate. It?ll just be nice to start getting a reasonable wage
for my time. My wife?s new government job is paying well over
double if not triple per hour for what I?m currently paying
myself for doing the day to day work on our 60 cow herd by
