Cockshutt 50 On The Grain Cart

Its not a very big grain cart by today's standards but 250 bushels of wheat was enough to pull behind the Cockshutt 50 back in the 1980s when this photo was taken. I was combining with the Massey 510.

Hi Rusty,

What process and/or equipment are you using to get digital signals from your old photos?

I bought a Wolverine unit to transfer 35 mm slides but haven't spent enough time with it to feel comfortable and excited about using it.

Yours are turning out nicely, and I suspect you have the enthusiasm to move forward.

Nice picture Rusty...Heres my Cockshutt 50 diesel that I bought in August 2017...It hadn't ran in years.... Here it is in Sept 2017 after I got it started for the first time..Luckily there wasn't a thing wrong with the PSB injection pump..

Hi Ron, Its just the old flatbed scanner that I use for everything. It does 35 mm slides as well as negatives although the really old, big negatives, don't fit in the holder so I have to line them up by hand to match the scanner. Not too difficult.
Half the battle is getting a good editing program to fine tune the resulting photos. You can fix over exposures, low light, etc. I use Adobe Lightroom.
This is a 126 slide that I scanned. Dad swathing with the Cockshutt 50 and Massey #30 pull type swather. Back about 1975.

That is a good looking old original 50 there. Got the heavy front axle with solid cast 18 inch wheels. Can't tell but the fenders do not look quite right. Those style rear axles tended to loosen up and wear out the splines on any that I have seen. Got a late 40 diesel in the back of the shed with that style rear axle and the wheels are loose on the axle from spline wear.

I have the twin to that 50 heavy duty front axle, used to use it in tractor pulls but now use it around the farm.Mine is a gas, have NF 50 runner and a 2 more gas non runners

The fenders are original but they are bent and patched from having a buggy top on it...I'm hoping that the
rear wheels are a little loose so that I can take them off and get rid of the huge inner wheel weights..Its
probably the only 50 diesel in my part of the country and I sure was happy to get it for a reasonable price..
