Parka and shorts?

It's easy to spot someone from Indiana. Some wear a heavy Parka and Shorts in the winter. The other day I saw a lady wearing a Parka, shorts and flip flops going into Krogers. So if you see someone in your state dress in a hoodie and shorts in the winter ask them if they are from Indiana?

I dress in arctic carharts and arctic boots in the winter.
Do you wear shorts and a Parka in the winter or see others who do? What state do you live in?

sounds like we will get to wear the shorts on friday Ben and then back to the parka on saturday.
gonna be a warm one friday. might have to dig out the sun tan lotion also. it was nice to have a white christmas, just doesnt seem right if your not travelling to a christmas party driving in a blizzard.
have a merry christmas and a happy new year from mid western ontario. Canada

I might have to this week here in Arizona, having some cooler weather. My goal is to not wear long pants while I'm here, except when dressing up. It's going to be back up above normal next week.

I don't know why it bothers anyone but yea we see people dressed like that here even when the temps are below zero.

British neighbour used to snowmobile in boxer shorts and a parka. He grew up in houses without central heat in UK so found it quite pleasant in Canada.

Mason's that do a lot of work for us had a competition a couple years ago to see who could wear shorts the longest. It was all fun and games until someone got frost bite.

The last week that the golf course was open, I still saw people in shorts and a jacket.

Very common to see that in central Iowa, especially among younger people. I guess they think all the body heat goes out the top of your head!

Here in Southwest Missouri I'm probably the odd duck in that pool. I wear jeans and long sleeves year around, and work boots.

SE Wisconsin temps in the mid 40?s last week. High schoolers walking to there cars in t-shirts, shorts and flip flops. Long pants aren?t usually seen there until temps hit the teens or twenties. Just a normal thing around here...at least for the youngsters.

Some years ago, my wife and I went to a Nebraska/Iowa State football game in Ames, IA.

We had some 4" of wet snow during the game. My wife and I were both wearing insulated coveralls and had large garbage bags pulled over us with eye holes poked in them. You guessed it, some students were running around in shorts.

I wear pants, hat, gloves, insulated boot and a t shirt till it gets down to about 25, then I put on a sweat shirt. I am the one on the beach tan from the waste up and snow white legs!

Some years ago our local UPS driver made some kind of fund raiser pledge that paid based on how many days he wore shorts on his route. Now remember this is Northern Iowa. He wore then 365 days that year. Tougher man than me.

Any kilt wearers out there???? Thinking of wearing one of those gives a whole new meaning to frost bite. LOL

I wear shorts from May- end of October. . New overalls in October, generally have the legs worn through by spring, so may as well cut the legs off. And call them shorts. I can?t understand why all the fuss about wearing shorts. I work at some dirty jobs on the dairy farm, legs wash just like arms.

Just remembered a funny thing. A lot of long haul truckers wear shorts and flip flops year round. When going into the majority of the ethanol and gluten plants you have to have the following for cloths: long pants, shirts that cover your shoulders(no tank tops), closed top shoes(no sandals or flip flops). I was told this is because of the OSHA rules around flammable liquids. So over the ten year period that we hauled feed, I saw a lot of angry driver turned away from the plants when they did not have the correct cloths.

I made the fellows driving for us wear sleeved shirts, long pants and work shoes. If you want to wear shorts and flip flops go to the beach not work.

I never wear shorts, other than boxers around the house and to bed.

Long pants, work boots or dress shoes, short sleeves.

I work around too many machines to take a chance on long sleeves at work.

I do put on a jacket, coat, heavy coat, arctic survival gear anytime below 40! LOL

Funny story, I guess, depending on the view...

Last summer wife and I went walking the off road bike trails here in town. We had never been very far back there before, they are quite extensive, easy to get turned around. We had encountered a few riders, others walking.

Then we met Mr. kilt! A middle age man, walking by himself. Yes he was wearing a kilt, a very, very short kilt! As in the bottom half of his... Well you get the "picture"!

And he wanted to talk, telling us all about his volunteer work he puts in keeping the trails maintained and developing new ones. I suspect that was all nonsense as the park is city property, maintained by the city.

He may have been telling the truth, didn't seem unusual other than his choice of apparel, but we had to go, the other way! LOL

Seller ...... up here most of the UPS drivers wear shorts year round, could be minus-25 and they'd be wearing shorts. I think it's sort of a macho or look-at-me thing with them, what other reason would there be except to maybe get attention. I guess they're just in and out of the truck, if they were working construction outside in the winter, they'd be changing their attire. I don't think it's a fundraising thing.

It's refreshing to see that it's not only Hoosiers who wear shorts in winter. You'll never catch me wearing short summer or winter. My white legs would be blinding.

Yea but try that at the shore during the summer. It is so funny cause these fab looking babes will have a very thin see through shirt over a very skimpy revealing swim togs. Then you DON'T want to see some females who should absolutely know better dressing the same way. You don't even want to picture in your mind how bad they look. Woof!

Down here when the temperatures go down below 50 all us locals are in overcoats and warm caps.
The winter visitors are in lite sweaters,Bermuda shorts, and tennis shoes.

Last Sunday I showed up at a Sporting Clays shoot here in Central Florida in shorts Sperry top sider slip on shoes a long sleeve tee and a shooting vest and the temperature when I got out of the truck was 34 degrees. The only reason I didn't have my flip flops on is they require close toed shoes! By the time we got through shooting it was 70 degrees.
