Neighbor, dairyman, had several NH bi-directional tractors over the years. I ran them a few times. They where a pretty good loader but not like a industrial loader but better than the average tractor loader. He had a set of mower/conditioners for his. That worked pretty good but you where horse power limited in heavy hay. He later went to a self propelled mower.

The earlier Red Versatile ones where prone to hydraulic leaks under the cab. Then add some hay chaff and you had a fire waiting to happen. A fair number of them burnt.

thank you. Hadn't seen that ad. It was helpful watching all the other implements. Mine just has the loader. I go into the narrow spots in my woods, hook to a log, reverse the seat & head out. No turning around.

(quoted from post at 03:26:59 12/26/18) I am sitting here dreaming about a 3 other 2 row chopper head for doing corn silage. . Chop corn or hay looking forward, not over my shoulder.

Bruce, What is 3 other two row? or is it a typo?

I loved the old 276 red ones and the later 9030 blue ones. When they went to the ts145 you lost the nimbleness of the smaller frame. At least that point a person should jump up to a real payloader.

The old red ones were good, nobody likes TV140's around here. In the shop most of the time. Expensive machine to keep around.

I believe that Gehl experimented with that concept back in the late 1970's. Drawbacks were noise closer to the operator and so-so blower which could come up short hitting the back of the wagon. When the blower had issues it meant material all over the tractor including the radiator/fan area. Even when the blower was working fine the cooling system was affected by drifting debris from the chopper assembly. Oncoming vehicle visibility was considerably reduced while traveling down the road so the idea was canned. Somebody built a front mounted side delivery rake for chopping or baling but once again you had plant material pushing into the radiator. If you caught a woodchuck hole hard then the implement sustain considerable damage. That was in North America so I could not tell you what the Europeans were doing and if they had any success.

Had a friend who tried one out. When he asked thinson what he thought of I, the son said ? dad, don?t you think we farm too close to the road tonown one of those??
They were big Oliver fans.

My godfather bought one new when they came out. He traded in a 9030. That TV-140 was such a POS that he went all the way back to a conventional tractor with a loader in this instance he traded it for a JD 7810. The 9030 on the other hand was almost bullet proof. I have another neighbor that went through three of them before getting one that worked.

John Deere 3020 power shift so small and nimble you can go anywhere With it brakes that work and enough hydraulics to handle any job and still enough power to get some work done
