Ford 3000 starter

Are the new starters for a 3000 all the same or is there good ones and bad ones? Where should I buy a new starter. This site? I do have a good shop close by that can rebuild the one I have. I thought about both buying a new one and having my old one rebuilt.What do you think?

Had our gasser?s rebuilt professionally , was hundred-ish (could be wrong). Was worth whatever we paid. Reputable shop, no problems, quick turnaround.

Gas or diesel? The starters sold on here are decent units. In my opinion just buy a new after market rather than have yours rebuilt, but there are differing opinions. If you want yours rebuilt make sure it is OEM Lucas (diesel), or FoMoCo (gas).

So I recently bought a TO-35. When I got it hauled home it wouldn?t start. I jumped the starter and nothing so I knew it was a problem with the starter rather than the connections. So I opened it up and found the brushes were worn short enough to lose contact. Replaced them for $6.
