Time to drain the water

We have had 20 hours of warm 98% humidity weather here with another 15 to go. All of the cast iron and heavy steel has water from condensation just running right off from it. That means that it is running down the inside walls of the engines, transmissions, and hydraulic housings too. I don't have any work this time of year to generate enough heat to drive the water off so I will go around and crack the drain plugs and drain as much as I can out before it freezes tomorrow night.

It probably won't be as bad as you think.

The outside has an unlimited supply of saturated atmosphere to collect moisture from.

The inside can only condense what moisture is already in there. Also the air inside the cases is going to be near the same temperature as the surrounding iron, so there will be little condensation taking place.

Still, won't hurt to check...

My woodshed was like walking into a shower yesterday morning. Still ice and snow on top of the roof and 54F air outside. The under side of the steel roof was dripping heavily and the wood stacks were sweating and wood was wet.
Oh Well, we are back to winter again today. Ground went from brown to white overnight and more snow on the way. Down to 29F again this morning. The drips have stopped.
