Santa came early

A late model 8N followed me home. Probably paid too much for it ($1400) but everything except the tach and ammeter work real well (also missing headlights) and it wasn?t too far away. This one is still 6 volts but the battery, starter, coil and wiring are new and it starts right up, even in the cold, and runs real smooth with no smoke or leaks anywhere. Not sure of the year but has the distributor on the right side of the block rather than in front. I noticed that the block had cracked, from freezing at one time, in the usual lower left side but seems to have been brazed well and has no leaks. Hood has some rust holes but came with an almost new set of fenders. Tires looked good with only minor cracking but could use both tie rods out at the spindles. Front tires and wheels aren?t stock but I think the thicker ones won?t leave grooves in the lawn as much (its main purpose will be to pull an 8? roller). Best of all it has a Sherman Combo (12 forward and 3 R) transmission. First thing will be to remove the Dearborn Snap loader and cut it up for scrap (unless someone local wants to take it away). Will update when I remove the loader.

As long as you're satisfied, who cares. I always say- as long as you don't owe me any money, I don't care what you spend your money on-

Sounds like you got a great deal. Unless you have another use for it, why scrap the loader? At shows, tractors with implements seem to get more attention than just another bare tractor.

Good eye but it's an RV-4, had it for 24 years. My diesel 4500 TLB next to it and why I don't need/want another loader.

But that little old loader is so cute! Don't chop it up, would be so sad. Paint it red. Then it would look just like the TOOTSIE TOY tractor they used to sell.

Nice tractor! I also got an early bday/Christmas present. A Echo top handle C 301 chainsaw, brand new. Lady that grooms our Teddy dog said her husband had a saw for sale, he told me he had some saws stolen a few years ago and the ins co gave him this one. He had never put gas in it, and it came with the owners manual, scrench and case for $200. Works like a charm for a trimming saw, just what I wanted. I already bought a semi chisel chain for it, put the "safety" chain on the bench.

(quoted from post at 17:31:41 12/21/18) OMG!!! I had completely forgotten about those things.

I had one of those little toy Fords as a kid. I built a loader for it. I drilled holes through it at the transmission, I made the boom out of solder, and the bucket out of tin from a soup can. It worked real well in our sand pile.

I have a saw just like that one. I really like it starts every time. Very light. I think the saws are made for tree trimmers. Mine has a ring on the back. I guess to attach to a belt, to climb a tree? Stan
