Folks, this is the only song recorded in German to make the top ten on the US Hit Parade.

FWIW, Petula Clark recorded this song in both English and French in the early/mid 1960s. IIRC, both versions went to #1 in England and France.

There is a German heavy metal band called rammstien that got alot of airplay in the 90s. I have no idea what they were saying but then neither can I understand some US metal bands.

I remember this playing on the radio back then. My mother kept one on in the kitchen. It came to mind a year or two ago, and it took a lot of trial and error to find it on YouTube but I finally did.

I remember that well, great song ..... so Seaman as in Sailor right? Here's another Euro-based song that I remember. Unlikely to hit #1 though but still pretty cool ....
