Big Unknown Tractor Part (I'm Stumped)

If possible please provide any name, model, fitment or what ever this thing is. Thank you much. I'm a first time poster so thanks in advance for your support. I have researched for hours to no avail.

knowing WHAT IT IS OFF OF WOULD HELP tractor, truck, combine, space ship?? what did it do? Make it stop . make it go? Make it fly?

Hi and welcome to YT! Just a quick briefing, there are some
here that are to the death loyal to their brands of tractors so
any such defamation of any such brands will be fighting words
and the YT DOT is very quick to issue traffic violations ,so
keep those in mind and you?ll be alright. Now your question,is
there any type of writing on it anywhere such as where it?s
made, part number or name of manufacturer? To me it looks
like it?s made of copper and one end swivels? It obviously
threads into something, maybe to move fuel air or coolant?
Roughly how big is it?

It was given to me from my grandfather. He has passed now. I have it up on the wall in the office as a talking piece. I really have no idea what it is or what it came off of. I was hoping somebody would recognize what it is.

Wilson .... good question on what it is from (but I doubt that he knows) but the rest about what does it do (stop, go, fly) would have resulted in him not asking the question in the first place. Well, that's how I interpret it anyways .....

Welcome.

That is an unusual piece.

I?m struggling a bit to get a size reference, the bolts make it look kinda big, but the thing looks fairly small all in all. If it were next to a quarter or a 2x4 or hand or
something I recognize, I could get a sense of how big it is.

It appears it can wobble on each side? Or is it all one piece, no movement allowed?

Is the center piece hollow through, or is it a solid shaft?

Pot metal maybe, or heavy iron?

Those bit of cogs we see on the ends, do they look like they engage anything, or serve a purpose?

If it came from your grandpa, did he work in a car or truck garage, would it have come off his farm, did he love only one brand of farm machinery? Are you in tobacco or
cotton region, or a small grain area or corn bean area, so we might have a clue as to the type of machine it came off of?

Often times a pice like that, someone who knows can say right away from that pic.

It seems it is rather unusual, and so we all have to think harder. Seeing more angles of it and getting more clues will help us all.

You have a very good mystery started for us. Hope you and we can keep going with it. :)

It's been a while since I've worked on one,but it looks like a bronze guide, knurled piston, tappet head CCV valve for the cone differential planetary gear on an Essex Tri Directional. That one looks to be about 30 over.

Drive shaft for a turbine engine to transmission. (maybe helicopter?) The ends with teeth notches would have a v clamp
around it holding the drive and driven ends together. They were packed with a special grease and could not be cleaned with
solvent. Had to clean with a popsicle stick and a lot of paper towels, inspect and repack.

Friend of mine thought it looks like the pulley for cables for a garage door spring load.

Wow, you nailed it! Number 10 says "Torque 100 to 200 FT LBS", leaves a lot of "slop" for error or "Good enough for government work" ;-)

Wow, thanks for the help. I would have never thought it would be that. I really thought it would stay a paper weight. Do you have any ideas if they're needed or sought after.

Sought after right after you get it inspected and possibly magnafluxed by an FAA cert shop and signed off on as a serviceable part.
See scrap pile.
