It?s always hard to lay a friend to rest that?s for sure
I?ve had to put several good horses to rest and a
few good dogs and it isn?t easy . My boarder collie
has really aged a lot this last year he has an old leg
injury that?s been injured a couple times through his
life and it really is starting to show .

I have buried several of my dogs in the cemetery on the farm it has some relatives that died in the 1800's and one as late as 1948.My wife and I will be buried beside the dogs on the outside
so hopefully the dogs' graves won't be disturbed in the future.

Sorry to hear about your dog. I had to put down my best friend Milo about three months ago and that hurt about as bad as anything I've ever done. Here's a photo from about two years ago when he was still healthy.

In 40 years a lot of friends have their resting place here. One, a black lab has a tree planted on top of her grave....the Sheba Tree. Wife got me into
cats before she died; she liked to have a couple around the house. Had one leftover, a Siamese male, Mr. Ching. I cried when I had to have the vet
put him down. Never thought I'd feel that way about a cat. I am a believer in not letting them suffer. When it's time to go, arthritis or what have you,
put them down....don't keep them around "selfishly", letting them suffer for your sake.

Couldn't agree more. Makes me sick to watch people buckle and leave their pets suffering. We just recently watched this play out with some pitifully weak extended family and their old Lab. These friends were always there for us. When the end grows near, have the guts to cowboy up and be there for them. I recently read an article written by a veterinarian who said the worst part of putting an animal down was witnessing the animal's fear and anxiety as their weak owners slunk from the room just before the procedure, so as not to be upset. I was holding Milo as he passed and can't even begin to imagine how you'd do it any other way...

Had to put down my Border Collie (Belle) about 11 months ago. Hated the world ever sense. I loved my dog more than some people and family i
know. I couldnt stand the pressure it was giving me so i found another Border collie pup (Maggie). I find myself when i am calling her
sometimes i say Belle. Shes turning out to be a good dog and smart. But she sure is giving me a run for my money. Sometimes i think i should
have had my head examined for getting a puppy at my age of 58. But Im telling you she was worth every dollar and then some. It was good for
me. So in saying that i feel what your saying about a pet. You should get another one and don't listen to anyone that says don't do it. It
really has helped me out alot.

I certainly agree with all writers. We aquired a part Chow part rinckle dog back several years ago that we were in process of servince training that died from heart worm disese contracted in lusiana during katrena. Still have a twinge when I think momentarily about it. Don't know how I may react to our present service dog who is now 11 years old, still healthy Full femail Chow chosen for strength. Tears in thinking about the inevitable.
May you find God's comfort.

Glenn you have my deepest sympathy to be parting with your friend Champ.
The sunset is a splendor to behold and appreciated just like Champ's life was.
Looks like Champ has a resting spot with a beautiful view.

So Sorry for your loss, We all have felt this pain. here is a story you need to keep in your heart.

The Rainbow Bridge ( inspired by a Norse legend)

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill, Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still. Where the friends of man and woman do run, When their time on earth is over and done. For here, between this world and the next, Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest. On this golden land, they wait and they play, Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day. No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed, Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued. They romp through the grass, without even a care, Until one day they start, and sniff at the air. All ears puncture wound forward, eyes dart front and back, Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack. For just at that instant, their eyes have met; Together again, both person and pet. So they run to each other, these friends from long past, The time of their parting is over at last. The sadness they felt while they were apart, Has turned into joy once more in each heart. They embrace with a love that will last forever, And then, side-by-side, they cross over? together.
