Best spray-on engine cleaner.

My old Deere working tractor hasn't been given a good clean up in years and the engine is caked with every petroleum product known to man.

What's the go-to spray on engine degreaser that won't damage wires, plastic, paint, etc?

For years and years I used STP's Steam degreaser. I bought it by the case at Ace Hardware. I just used my last can last summer and now it's gone. Discontinued they said.

What's the go to?

Many thanks.

GUNK SC super concentrate
mixed with kerosene

A concentrated self-emulsifying degreasing solvent for engine and parts. Dilute one part concentrate with 9 parts of kerosine or light Diesel fuel oil for
very effective cleaning. Spray or brush on. Does not harm electrical system, strip paint or cause rust. Water rinse.

If your not particular about paint,
oven cleaner will clean decades old
gunk right off. It will fade the paint
tho. No engine cleaner will work as
good.

I have used that in the past. But ever since I got a Hotsy hot water pressure washer it seems to take off most stuff without using chemicals.

I like "Kreen" which is by the makers of Kroil penetrating oil. It can be used straight, or mixed with diesel.

+1 on the Gunk SC! Works just as well with diesel too. Soak it good, it set for as long as possible, 24-48 hours for me. Soak it again, and pressure wash after an hour or so. Repeat if needed.

The company that I work for makes a heavy Duty degreaser with Dlimonene. It is the best that I have found. It is not widely distributed west of PA. but I would just look for one with Dlimonene and potassium hydroxide.

I would recommend Gunk but a little Gunk pollutes thousand of gallons of water .It is concentrated. Not if you have a well.
