Case 970....five minutes to clean driveway / yard....

Little old lady is 71 year young Widow....great PIES....no charge:

Bob...

In your case, an introduction to a couple single ladies. Me, whatever they would like to pay or give me. Usually their thanks is enough if they are customers of mine. YMMV

I believe in helping neighbors. No charge, it is often returned in other ways, such as a pie, cake or something. Also a good name and reputation.

Don't charge any of my neighbors. I never know when I might have to call them for a little help. I usually get repaid in the better things in life like peanut butter fudge, homemade jellies or apple butter or Thank You that is really meant. Keith

Extrapolating this out......... There are people of all five sexes, (or how ever many of those there are now), Who genuinely are unable to do for themselves and it is not their fault, or who are good people who are always sharing and helping others, who should get help as a favor, but on some sort of a sliding scale. There is an elderly couple in our church who my wife, who is church secretary, sends me to to do repair work on their home. I do all manor of work for no pay. Their deacon does a lot for them too. Then there is the other end of the spectrum, a guy who is always looking for help and does not do a lot for the church or deserving people in the church and has the means to pay but doesn't want to. I charge him, but at a church discount. It is difficult to figure a way to figure a rate according to the situation.

Living on a camp ground in Ont., most of the other house holds are over me in a long way in age, using a walk behind blower, shovel and this year some sand where needed have never charged to date, just happy safety is provided.

Contractors in Western Iowa charge $25 to $35 a trip to remove snow from residential drives and sidewalks.

I cleaned a lady's driveway for 20 years,, she always paid right off and kept track of each cleaning, started @ 25.00 each cleaning, it would take 15-40 min depending on amount of snow as it drifted in her place 4-8' deep when the wind blew,, she upper the pay to 35.00 on her own about 5 years ago, she has moved away now I was not making anything other than some fuel, I clean several lots still today and was driving right past her place so travel was not a issue, I charge 125.00 a hour other wise,, and have for the 20 years I have been doing it,, equipment, parts and fuel is not cheap I do not wear out my stuff just to get a few bucks moving snow, friends and family and good neighbors I charge nothing

No snow here in Alabama, but I will boxblade a drive way for free ,or cut grass. Neighbors get free help. As do many elderly folks.....

I can relate to that,,,when we first volunteered at the Holiday soup kitchen we learned something.
At the end,,after the meal,,all kinds of packaged food and goodies get handed out to the needy. The
organizer of the event explained something to us.He said,,when you are passing it out,,keep in mind
there will be lions,,and lambs. We saw what he meant,,little old ladies or frail sick
people,,etc,,,not asking for much,,and not getting much,Then there were strong, healthy, well dressed
people trying to take a lot.

ss55 we are at three times that here.

I did an elderly ladies driveway for years at no charge, she was well into her 90s and still living on the old farmstead all alone. She made me baked goods and gave me lots of little things over the years, also garden produce in summer. I always thought it was the right thing to do, and I would want someone to do the same for my own Mother if the situation was the same. Her appreciation was my pay and well worth it ! Sadly she passed about 4 years ago now, house and most of the buildings have been knocked down already. Her name was Matilda but everyone called her Tilly.

I ain't waiting on her granddaughter helping with the combine this summer. She better be helping me get prepped for spring planting today. :)

I plowed my older neighbor lady's drive and she would bring me a apple pie. Sure were good pies.

LOL I was just going to say pie, If not for free. We don't get a lot of snow in ky but when it rains I am always putting gravel back on the driveways for the older folk around here.

I have an old plow truck, so it's not a big deal to do a few of the neighbors drives. Several of them are older and basically unable to do it themselves. I let them pay what they want. I tell them if I was really charging them, we would have talked price beforehand.

Some are a little more fair about it than others.

I like to work for food. Old ladies liked to pay me with Good Food. Nothing like a bowl of hot Ham and Beans with cornbread to warm you up.

She has a granddaughter that Is cute but she is married . I wish I had known about the grandma 25 years ago I would have been over there every day scraping and salting the sidewalks .

I have a John Deere and a Massey Ferguson she can drive around . Her dressed up in Red and Green sure would look good under the christmas tree

I don?t think I?ll charge her anything unless the
weather changes and I have to do it a couple times
a week then I might charge a little .

I do the driveway for the farm behind mine since the husband can't do it anymore and I do my own and that's about it I hate to push snow. And most of the 'Old Ladies' around here have
a SUV or pickup with a snow blade, many have tractors with blades.
