My dads thought process is getting very questionable as he is in his mid 80s.we live next door to each other.it appears to him that my dog is his personal garbage food recycler, every night he comes over and feeds my dog table scraps from the entire day,I've confronted him many times about this, and it never seems to get thru that my dog pukes all night.my dog is 11 1/2 yrs old.ive given up on this fight.if I dumped a 50 lb bag of dog food out my dog would eat it all,he doesn't seem to know when to quit...gonna hate to see the dog leave, but it's probably best for his health to not est table scraps, bones, and loads of grease and grass

Sorry I misread it the first time. I thought your dog was going next door. It looks like your Dad is coming over.

I feel your pain. My mother came to live with me 3 years ago. (She was going to stay a few weeks) I love and care for my mom but she drives me CRAZY!
She gives my dogs treats all day long and makes special food for them. I have lost two dogs since she has been here. They were not young but I think they would've been around a few more years if I could've got her to quit feeding them. Now my border collie is getting chubby and she doesn't eat much of her own food. Best of luck to you.

Don?t see that working!! 88 would have to go over and clean it up unless they wanted Dad to live with puke on the floor.

Ok, I get it. Just be thankful you still have him. I wish I was still able to put up with my Dad's silly ideas. By the way, Bissel makes a darn fine carpet cleaner that will clean up pet mistakes PDQ.

At 11-1/2 years old, that will kill the dog if it keeps up. The dog can't tell you how bad it feels. I loved my parents until the end when they passed at 85, but I sortof preferred my dog compared with all of nonsense they did. With all of the torment of putting up with them I sure would have hated to lose my best friend.
Put the dog in a cage during the day and lock the door so Dad can't do his thing. Or put a shock collar on Dad.

Your Dad's in his mid 80's and sorry to say but the dog will most likely out live him. Let Dad feed him till his eyes bug out then get a new dog..

SO sad a dog or two are complicating your relationship with your Dad.

When he is gone, you will miss him.

HOPEFULLY more than you miss the dogs when they are gone.

THINK about it, and act accordingly.

Buy him a potbelly pig, or get you a couple of feeder pigs. They get fed and you get pork in the end. But don't get rid of either of your best friends. Your dad or your dog.

Maybe you could feed the dog less to compensate for your dad. Depression era folks can't stand to waste anything. Even children of depression tend to be careful what they waste.

Your dad probably enjoys spending some time with the dog. Can you give your dad full access to the dog but ask your dad to bring his table scraps to you or a set location, so you can decide how, when and what to feed your dog?

(table scraps, bones, and loads of grease and grass

Sounds better than what is in store bought dog food.

Have had plenty of dogs outlive their normal life expectancy and they all ate everything listed above.

Might be the dog has a problem; worms, mineral deficiency...
