Mahindra tractors any one ever owned one

I have been told that mahindra
tractors are old school international.
Is that true?
Please share the good and the bad
things of mahindra tractors.
Are they worth buying or are they a
waste of money?

Thanks

There are connections between early Mahindra tractors and IH inter licensing was a fact, and (IIRC) 25 to 40hp tractors were in the mix with IH parentage. The product (like all products) has changed over time, but still has a reasonable reputation. (neighbor had one that was solid) if buying used, the treatment it was given when it was in service makes all the difference. Jim

Back in the day, India didn't allow "foreign" companies to come in and exist on their own, and Intersmashitall Harvester wanted to be there, so they formed a partnership with an old Indian company, Mahindra.

The rest is history, as they say.

Had a 2015HST model years ago bought used in good condition. Never had any trouble. If I needed a small utility and there was a good dealer nearby with a decent service department I would buy another one.

I dont own one but know several that do because we had (notice past tense) a large dealer near by. They are a pretty solid tractor over all. Parts are not a problem but service is sketchy at best. People like to say that if you purchase green and yellow, or orange or Blue that you are paying for paint but truthfully you are paying for support after the sale. Find a way to destroy the engine or transmission in a 10 year old Kubota, Deere or New Holland and you can take it somewhere and get it fixed by a factory trained person, or at least somebody that has some inclination of what they are doing. Somebody has to pay for stocking those parts and training the guy that installs them. Truthfully I see VERY little difference in build quality between them all heck even the current crop of Rural King tractors would fit right in on a JD lot if they were painted the correct colors. I am not knocking the lesser cost brands, just stating things as I see it. The decision as far as I am concerned is do you not pay for dealer support and take the chance that the tractor will live long and prosper without it? Or do you chose a brand that services what they sell over the long haul? Its kinda like buying insurance when you think about it.

I have a 12 year old 70 HP with cab, front wheel assist and loader. Overall it?s been a good tractor. Dealers around here seem to come and go. During WWII they made the US version of the military Jeep . Later they manufactured IHC tractors. No doubt some of the IHC tooling was used in the Mahindra.

My son has a 2004 40 hp with loader, power angle snowplow, log graple and log winch and he loves it and has had no problem. He has a skid steer type quick hitch for the bucket, plow and the graple hook, works great. There are several dealers in the area.

I have 2 a 6500 11 years old usual maintenance, the biggest problem poor dealer support that I bought it from then.We bought a second this year to replace a well used JD from a reputable dealer no problems with the second either.Find a good dealer and you will be happy with a Mahindra.

Not buying but are there any dealers in Nortwestern Ohio or Northeastern Indiana? Never heard of any. If there is what town?

Leroy,
Friend has learned a dealer lesson the hard way. He bought a new 55 hp YTM from a dealer across the border in Ill because it was cheaper. The dealer doesn't mechanics who can repair the tractor. There is also a dealer in Terre Haute. It doesn't require anything to become a dealer for YTM. Take orders and sell them. No support team required.

Stick with local dealers farmers do business with especially if you don't have a truck and trailer big enough to haul tractor to dealer.

I think an old YTer, Lance, bought a new one. He had a YOUtube video of the problems he had with a year old Mahindra dealer wouldn't stand behind it because warranty doesn't cover commercial use.

Don't get upset if my memory is failing. I was diagnosed with CRS, I think??

I have a small (24hp)SCUT a Maxx 24. bought it new 2013 and have about 300 hours on it. Mitsubishi 3 cyl diesel.
I am generally happy with it, although some parts were not well thought out.
Mine is a hi lo range hydrostatic. Needs a third range. Hi is pretty much for transport or mowing, doesn't have a bunch of pulling power. Low range is great for the grunt work but slower than it should be.

The thing has turning brakes. Why? Don't really see the need on an FWA utility, not like its a row crop. Most stupid engineering feat is to have heel toe hydro controls but to have the steering brake on the same side. You need both feet on the same side of the tunnel to use both functions

Owners manual says to check oil before each use. Raise and block the loader. raise the hood, remove the right side panel and dig around in the dark for the dipstick. They couldn't have specced a longer stick with a access port?

I looked at the BX Kubota JD and TYM before buying the Mahindra. The castings on the Mahindra are much more robust than any of the others. I am not at all unhappy with my decision and would buy another.

If you do buy a SCUT, do not get the belly mower, pain to mount and dismount and makes the machine useless for almost any other task while it is installed. Much happier with a 3 point finish mower!

As a lifelong IH fan, I have been quite happy with the two Mahindra tractors that I have owned. Admittedly I have only owned 35hp utility tractors (3325 & 3505). My current Mahindra 3505 has around 1,000 hours on it and is used year round on a small farm. It is almost 15 years old and to the best of my knowledge the only repairs have been a PTO shaft seal and gasket. There is a very strong "heritage" with IH as both of these tractors from the clutch housing back are almost identical to the early IH tractors (think B414, B275) and many of the parts will interchange.

where are the Intersmashitall tractors made? that's one of the foreign brands I have not herd of. Do you own one and if so what is your record or dealer support and parts supply. Thanks for your reply.

I have a 12 year old Mahindra 4510 with about 3300 hours on it. We've re-cored the radiator and replaced the head gasket in the last couple of years, but all in all, it's a good tractor. It has to start every day to feed out, and will start without help at -15 to -20. I just wish the dealer support was better.

I have a Mahindra dealer 2 miles from me. Just today I drove past it and there was a large one sitting in there yard. I had no idea they made tractors that big. I don't know what number was on hood. But it was fwa. and duals on the back. It almost reminded me of a real tractor.

Several years ago one of my customers bought 1. 2 weeks after he bought it, he had a flat tire. I went out to fix it. I found it very hard to believe what I found. I had been doing farm tire repairs for 20 years. This was bad, the rim was so thin it was very difficult to break the tire down without bending the rim. The inside of the rim was solid rust. It was like someone had put fluid in a tubeless tire. I was able to fix the tire and get it back on the rim. Dealer called me the next day and wanted to pay for the tire repair. I told him about the rims. They went out and picked up the tractor and replaced all 4 rims. They all four were bad.

I just wondered if there was actually a dealer within a hundred fifty mile radious of me. Never heard of a dealer so where do those of you that have them find them and how far do you have to go to find them for sale. Now retired and living in town. So no use for a tractor.

I have an eMax22 HST with a loader, 180 hrs. on it. Made in S. Korea by TYM with a Daedong (Kioti is the brand name in the US) 3 cyl. diesel. It's Tier IV compliant without DEF or cleaning run cycles, if one cares about such.

One issue was a recall on the fuel tank. At first Mahindra's solution to a cracking problem was to smear epoxy or something on it, but the dealer said he had too many failures so he was replacing tanks. I noticed the replacement was much beefier. Another issue it is stuck in 4WD now but that's not areal problem since i keep it on just about all the time anyway.

When I compared them to the other brands I too found heavier castings and more capable hydraulics and the price and incentives were better. The hood and fenders are plastic which I am warming to, still looks newbut no problems and no chance of rust. So far it's done everything I have needed it to do.

My Branson 6530 purchased new in 2007 has yet to get sloppy from wear. To engage 4wd, I can do it under most any condition. To disengage, without forcing anything, I put the tractor in
reverse, hand on the 4wd lever with moderate pressure, engine at idle, and pop the clutch......pops right out. One of these days it will wear in and I won't have to do that....but it's been 11
years and still waiting on it to wear in and get sloppy.

I go to TractorByNet.com for my newer viewing which is mostly general usage type of participants. I use this site for older tractors and serious farming issues although there are some very big BTOs on the TBN site. Additionally, several "big guns" that frequent this site scroll over there and chat too. You'll probably find what you are looking for there in the brand specific section.
