Got the final drive off tonight my helper came and we got the garage door up his antention span was about 6 minutes and I found myself working alone but at least I got it apart . Going to pull the cam apart next time and see why it?s not working also need to pull the clutch assembly apart and see what it needs John Deere has the new fiber and steel disks as cheap as aftermarket so I?ll go that way haven?t priced the pressure plate or throw out bearings yet I know Martin parts has those

To bad about your help. When I was younger I would have loved to help someone and have them show me about being a mechanic. Even now I know the basics but have to regretfully admit to not being mechanically inclined. One of these days I'm going to build a small shop and start a winter project. Something always seems to come up though.

Unless you already have the information, while you are at John Deere, get somebody to lend , or at least make a sketch of the clutch setting gage. It will save you some fiddling around later.

Also, if you don?t already know it, there is a pilot bearing on the hidden end of that clutch shaft. It?s not expensive, and I always replace them on general principles.

Ah yes working on old crawlers , i sorta remember those days . Yep you will need the clutch and steering clutch finger height gauge . I have one of them someplace , been years since i used it . That tool will work on up0 to the 350 Crawlers also.

That could be the problem? No my nephew he?s good for about 30 minutes sometimes less then he has to go talk on the phone or listen to music that sounds like a John Deere hoe going down a gravel road behind a pickup at 30 mph

Ahhhh, sounds like he listens to very tame easy listening stuff compared to a lot that I hear.
