Show heifer price

So we had an angus heifer born in
march. Have had a couple of people
interested in buying her for show
stock. I have no interest in showing
her and don't have any idea on what
she should be priced at. I was going
to fatten her and eat but the wife
thinks it would be better to sell her.
Any thoughts on how to price?

Unless your in the club calf business I would just sell her for a pound price plus a little if your think the buyer will pay more but I bet you find that the "show" heifer suddenly becomes not worth any extra money.

Showing any animal is a want not a need so many times money is flashed around but it is hard to grab on to it. LOL

You did not say what weight the heifer is at. Also did not say what breed or if registered. Need to know that. Right now Angus heifer calves in the 700 LBS. range are selling for the $1.20-40 range here in Iowa. A month ago they were $.20 higher. 500# heifers are selling in the $1.40-60 range.

So start out with 700 x $1.30 = $910. Then add on some IF you think the buyer is really interested. Maybe $100-200. So that would put you at $1000-1200.

Thanks it's an angus probably around 700lbs. They approached us and they're big in the showing of cows. Said they want to show her then for breeding.
