Kawasaki GE4000A-S carb rebuild o/t

I have a Kawasaki GE4000A-S generator. It runs fairly well but it is spewing fuel out the exhaust and crankcase ventilator. The crankcase is full of fuel. I've never seen an engine full of fuel continue to run, usually they flood out. I am assuming there is something really wrong with the carb/float/needle. I think I should start with a carb rebuild kit. Can anyone tell me what engine is in this generator and where I might find a carb rebuild for it? Thanks

No but I can tell you that a fuel shutoff valve in the hose to the carb will make it so it won't happen when sitting.
Good small engine repair shops will have a needle and seat for the carb if you take it in. I just hope the engine survived the lack of lubrication, How long was it running? Jim

Might just try dropping the bowl and free up the needle and seat, spray out the bowl and main jet with carb cleaner.

That's a typical symptom of sitting with ethanol fuel in the carb. If the fuel tank is equipped with a shut off valve, check to be sure it shuts off completely. If not, replace it, or if not equipped, add one.

Do change the oil, check the cylinder for liquid fuel before trying to start it again. A squirt of oil in the cylinder wouldn't hurt. Once it has run for an hour or so, if it acts lean, surging, drop the bowl again and thoroughly clean the main jet. Scrape it out with a small wire. Ethanol residue can be very difficult to remove completely.

I have 2 6,000 watt generators that were thrown out (one came with the box and manual) about 6 years ago for the issue you are describing. All I did was disassemble and clean the carbs (no parts added) and they both ran perfectly. Twice since, after sitting about a years without running, they gummed up again. Since I started buying non-ethanol recreational fuel 3 years ago, the issue has disappeared.
