Hope this works, one of my favorite tractors always wanted one! Ford 7710 plowing for 144 hrs straight. I only got up to a 4610! Lol

That?s a neat video . I find it funny they talk about heavy clay but they are pulling a 6 furrow plow 8 inches deep at 5 mph with 98 horsepower that?s prettt light ground but I guess it?s also bare and looks like it?s already been worked at least once .

Larry,
I think there are good Fords and bad ones too.
You would never sell my Dad another first generation Ford 6000 with SOS that spent more time in the repair shop than in the field.

Be careful throwing rocks at the King. He could have your head on a post.

Case, JD's and IH were around when I was a kid. What happened to Fords?
What tractor has been around the longest?

The word plowing means a lot of different things to different people.Neighbor used to brag about how much he could 'plow' with his 8N,I've seen sod strippers run deeper than his plow(LOL)

By the way George,,if you see the wood king,,tell him I cut and split some wood yesterday ,but didnt have time to stack it.

Had a bit of wheel slippage there. Lol needs to get his plow adjusted better too. Tilted too far left, would turn the dirt better I'd level.

I would love to see them drop that plow in the ground on my farm. Lol. That would make the Ford stand up and take notice.

When i was a kid i was crazy about the Chicago Black Hawks hockey team. Then Bobby Hull did some Ford tractor ads in some farm magasines and that did it, i was hooked!! Today i have 5 Ford tractors.

98 DIN hp just a bit less than 90 ASAE PTO HP. 6-14's was plenty of plow for that tractor. Not sure how I feel about Europe's passion for Pushing a plow ahead of a tractor. Most ground engaging tools "Pull" better than they push.
Neighbor farmed lots of ground, raised lots of hogs, and cattle too. Had two HS age sons. His big tractor was a Farmall 706 gas, between the three operators, Dad and both sons, they could keep it running around the clock. But they shut it down to refuel.
Right after I got home from college one summer, went over to the BTO neighbor to see if he needed help. He was kinda expecting me but not ready for extra help. I hauled manure all day, 400 head of feeder cattle, always manure to haul. Weather report was a weather front to blow thru about dark, rain, maybe up to an inch, but Boss said he'd get a tractor hooked to the plow if I wanted to plow a while. Said I'd be back around 7 PM, Had 4020 gas on 5-14 F-145 plow. Half mile rows, 4th gear, 16 rounds per tank of gas, in 4 hours, so back to yard about 11 PM, maybe a bit later, back plowing around 11:30, sky was clear by then, bright moon to see by, turned light off so I could see off in the distance. About 3:45 AM back at the gas barrel again, Boss comes out to do chores. While we're talking a car pulls in the yard. Was Dad, looking for Me, That was the end of my "All Nighter". Went home, couldn't sleep, went back to work about 8 AM, hauling manure again. Wish he could have got one of the diesels on the plow, 4020 or 4320, could have run 7 hours on a tank of fuel and plowed in 5th gear.

Jo-ker ...... yes, Bobby was quite a specimen in his day and I suspect his ads did have an effect on purchases. Still around, I see he makes the odd appearance here and there for hockey organizations and events, etc. Had a few issues over the years with some family things but I guess that's to be expected, lots of the same stuff still going on but more closely monitored in this electronic age.

One time they said were averaging 4.4 mph probably not counting wheel slippage. Wonder what average speed field tillage is carried out in 2018 in the US. Interesting ..... said the field was 2 meter below sea level in places.

I agree, Jon.

""[R]eclaimed from the sea."

Can't be "heavy clay" as claimed, but rather sediment. Easy plowing.

Interesting, though.

Dean

Because the repairs on those others are just so expensive, and the extra fuel too. It all cuts into the profits.

The Romeo, Michigan Ford plant converted from making tractors to automotive engines in about 1983?

I always laugh at all the posts from the guys across the pond . It?s easy to do a pretty job plowing running 4 inches deep in bare ground in soil that?s lighter than the garden potting mix !

Fords can turn it over pretty nice, too. Thats 4-year old sod. Just gotta get them adjusted right.
(Yes, I know the Ford 151 was built by Oliver/White)

The ground was so hard and dry this fall I had to drop the nose of the share a long ways to get the plow in the ground otherwise the plow would just slide on top of the ground . That?s another thing I like better about a 2 way plow the extra weight on the top will push the plow in the ground
