It needed points, real bad. Installed condenser too. I dry timed it using ohmmeter. Good thing I did. New Points wouldn't close. Cleaned them with emery cloth. Had flywheel set 8 DBTDC. Slowly moved distributor CCW until points opened. Timing light showed timing was spot on.
I used old plugs. Manual calls for H10 plugs. What plug do you use?
50 years ago I would replace points in car annually before winter
