Anyone see the President Bush train

Watched the whole process.....very well done. He organized it himself some years ago. He even drove the train for a practice run. It has been waiting for him to make the final ride.

I missed everything today cause I went into town to take care of some business. Hope to see a replay.

I considered driving over to Navasota but figured the crowds would be too big to see anything. After seeing it on TV I regret nt going.

I watched the plane flyover on TV. They counted 21 of them. I noticed the tailhooks on the planes were in the down catch position? Any idea on why?

I believe Union Pacific donated the locomotive in 2005 or 2006 and yes it is number 4141. He's the first president in 50 yeras to be taken to his final resting place via train.

Just on TV-Neat-RIP George---Tee

I noticed it too, and assumed it was because Bush 41 flew carrier aircraft in WWII.

That was a salute to his carrier days. He flew a TBM-Avenger during the war. A slow easy target. The first time they were used in combat. All were shot down only George Gay made it out alive. If I recall correctly he spent a few days dodging the Japanese patrol boats.

My hat is off, and respect given to this decent man, and our President. Rest well Mr. President.

All Navy airdales understand it. It's more than a tribute but I don't have the words to explain it to someone that hasn't been there.

My wife got to see it. Just west of Plantersville on highway 105, the railroad comes out and runs along side the road, where GATX has a railroad tank car repair facility. I told her it would be a good place to see the train and avoid the crowds. It turned out to be a great place to watch it, but she said there were probably a couple of thousand people there, with people parked along the road for miles.
A co-worker went to visit the church Wednesday night. Here is the email she shared:

I went to St Martins and said goodbye and thanks to George Bush last night. Started out at 12:30 after I thought the crowd was thinner and got home at 4:15am. Such a wonderful turnout and not one impolite person. Thousands of people and the whole procedure was really well organized. Just beautiful. This is the card they handed out as you left the cathedral.

When you see all those fine young men and women in uniform, you realize there is still hope for our great country. The 21 plane fly over with the 21st being the missing man, what a tribute.

39 is entitled to it.I may not agree with him,but he is USNA grad and a nuclear
submariner,cold war vet!
