98 k3500 transfer case

My farm truck is having problems. While driving in 2 high, it seems like the case shifts into neutral. I can stop, actually shift it into neutral and back to 2h, and it will go for a while, then the same thing happens again. It shifts to 4h with a loud bang, but seems to stay in 4h. I can't tell if the rear axle is pulling when it is in 4h or not. What do you think?

Shift linkage out or adjustment If it has a lever or bad motor if electric shift not moving the shift collar far enough

At the least, the range shift fork and/or the nylon wear pads on it are worn out.

Probably so . Had to change all that on my 6.5 2500

The input shaft has worn teeth. Research how they are put together, them it will make sense. The shaft has the internal gear built into it.
