Ford 801 hydraulic problems

I just purchased a Ford 801 tractor that had been setting for a couple of years. I got it running great but the 3-point lift does not work. I clean out the hyd. reservoir and replaced the fluid. I vented all the air out of the system, the pump seems to work great, with top 3"x5" plate removed it will blow fluid 6'; in the air. When I replace the small cover and start the engine I do not get any fluid to the lifting mechanism. I have already pulled the big cover and installed a LCRK. I need your help. It seems that when I replace the small cover I am blocking all hyd. fluid.

Try removing the round cover on the left side where the PTO engage lever is. While a helper operates the quadrant watch for oil leaking inside.

It's very common for the unloading valve to stick on those tractors when the sit for a while. When you installed the kit did you verify that the unloading valve was moving freely?

es Sir, the un;loading valve was stuck and I freed it up when I installed the new LCRK. I did not remove the part next to the unloading valve, could this be a problem. Thank you for the help, I hope to work on the tractor again saturday.

I am back working on my Ford 801 Power Master again. I pulled the side cover where the pto lever is per your request. In the up position there is no fluid moving in the reservoir, in the down position there is a small stream of fluid (about the size of a #2 pencil) coming from the back of the control valve. What do you thing my next step should be?

have removed the side cover and started the tractor. In the raise position there is no fluid visible, in the lower position there was a small amount of fluid running out of the back of the control valve cover. The fluid stream was small about the size of a #2 pencil. What should I do next?

Roger try posting this on the Ford forum down below. It may get more looks there. There are guys that have been into the hydraulics much more than I.

Could the unloading valve be stuck and not allow the arms to lift?[/quote]hat is one possible cause.

ark, I removed the top cover today and the item 11 hydraulic unloading valve was stuck as you thought. I hope to re-assembly tomorrow. One question the barrel the "o" ring slides in (I do not know the tech. name) has one small notch on one end and two large notches on the other end, do the double notches go to the rear of the cylinder or the front? I pulled a drawing but was not detailed enough.

I freed up the hyd. unloading valve and re-assembled, We are half-way there, now when I start the engine the lift raises to the top but will not lower without killing engine. The unloading valve had some damage, I may have to replace it. What are you thinking?
