Kioti vs kubota tractors

Kioti tractors look identical to a kubota. Are they a kubota sold under a different name?
Any one ever had any experience with the kioti brand tractors
Thanks

No personal experience, but I've heard lots of bad things about Kioti. Haven't heard anything bad about Kubota. Most likely totally different.

Found from web search:
[i:9117c18867]Kioti is the trade name for Daedong tractors in North America and parts of Europe.[/i:9117c18867]

There's no connection between the two. If you look on youtube I believe Messicks did a video describing the difference between them. Basically Kioti paints their tractors orange to make people think they are the same company. I'm not saying Kioti is bad or anything. I don't think I've ever seen one in this area.

I have a friend who has had a kioti for 10 years and loves it. That being said he only moves snow and does property maintenance with it. If the kioti is considerably cheaper ,no fear of dealer support and your not depending on it every day I?d consider the kioti otherwise I?d pick the kubota for sure.

If you do a search here on YT, I think there was a similar question posted not too long ago similar to yours.

A friend of mine has a snow removal business where he mainly uses 100hp loader tractors. He used Kubota's for years, but switched to Kioti because he can save $15k per tractor.
That being said, I've used both, and if was going to work it hard, I'd go with the Kubota.

About the only thing alike is the paint. Basically Kioti does try to mimic Kubota . They come around shows take pictures and go back to Korea and build a tractor. I have never understood the logic of buying one but someone here said $15 thousand less. I have never found those kind of price breaks. They do have a funny marketing strategy , if one will sign on as a dealer and order 10 tractors they give you a 10% wholesale cost break in hope that as a dealer that will make you cheaper and help sell the units. What it really does is put the guy that took on Kioti last year right up the road out of business. So what we have seen is most dealers last about two years and are gone. So parts and service are somewhat problematic. Have seen good and bad out of the tractors, have had folks come into the dealership wanting to trade them for a KUBOTA and the trade value is just not there. If you buy one you need to be prepared to like it, because getting you money back on trade is doubtful.

It depends on what time frame you are talking about. If you go back to the late 70's early 80's the Kioti were license built past model Kubota intended for other markets, just as FIAT licenced what amounted to copies of their tractors by UTB, and a company in Brazil whose name escapes me now. The UTB copies ended up being brought into the US as the Allis Chalmers 5040/5050 and Long and Agri-Power brought in some of the Brazillian ones. So at one time Kioti WAS a Kubota, just not now.

Bingo, JM.

A new (well financed) Kioti dealership opened about 15 miles from me about 2 years ago. It is partially owned by someone that I know and someone that knows what he is doing.

Because of this, I researched Kioti before deciding to buy my fifth Kubota.

Yes, one can often buy a Kioti for less but one should be damn confident of the dealership before doing so.

I have a Kioti 40hp tractor and a Kioti Mechron UTV. Both have been very good machines. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again if I ever needed to.

Never has been a Kioti dealer around, lots of Kubota dealers and old timeline dealers picking up Kubota

I think the Kioti are good tractors for the money. The operator station is unusual for me. If you buy one, plan on keeping it, because the downside is RESALE value.

No, a Kioti is not a Kubota, but...

Like everything else these days, a company that is motivated can improve things very quickly. Look at a Kioti from 5 years ago and then go to a dealership and look at a new one.

There's a night and day improvement in refinement and functions in just a few years.

Considering the cost difference if a guy was just looking for a property management tractor rather than a full-on daily use ag tractor, I'd give them a hard look. There is a point at which good is good enough for a given amount of use.

Same thing with Mahindra, IMO here's another company that seems pretty motivated to expand the dealer network and improve the tractors and it seems like every year they get a little better and a little closer to the big brands.

Kioti tractors appear, upon close inspection,to be very similar to the first Kubotas that were imported to this country: that is. OVERBUILT in order to establish s good reputation. Even now it seems, the Kiotis are heavily built ,compared to JD & MF but looking at the history of Toyota and Nissan I'm afraid KIOTI will go as Nissan, Long and Montana have gone. The public picked Toyota although Nissan was/is every bit as good. Its all about the 'marketing it appeats. One is South Korean while the other comes from a less honorable country. ALL HAIL THE RISING SUN!

IanC I would like to know where you get the information that there was EVER a license sold by KUBOTA. Kubota did sell the dies and casting molds for the L 2850 years ago. That was the start of the Kioti and they took those molds made a copy of the L2850 for the Korean market and like everything else started bringing tractors to the US. NEVER any connection with KUBOTA and in fact their have been three law suits involving paten infringement , two of which Kubota prevailed but the one alleging the use of the orange color KUBOTA lost.

The trend I am seeing is there are a lot of korean tractors on the market and at least on paper they are way ahead of kubota and JD (hydraulics, loaders, weight). The kioti model I compared to kubota was 1k pounds heavier, and the loader lift capacity was 700 pounds more than kubota, compare kioti to JD and its about the same. The comparison was between 32/33hp models. Other korean tractor brands are heavier too, stronger hydraulics and loader capacity, others like branson, TYM & LS. I cant speak for their quality or dealer and parts network though.

reference to mj's post, Montana tractors are not gone, they were made by LG, they renamed their own brand to "LS", they seem like great tractors, at least on paper.

I am disappointed when someone spreads false information, especially another dealer. Kioti's parent company has been in business and making farm equipment and desiel engines for more than 70 year. Kioti has been in the US for 31 years, while new dealers get a 3% discount, it is far from enough to upset an establised dealer and "drive them out of business".

I work at an older Kioti dealership and can say we are very peased with the product. They are a well put together product that holds it's value, no issues with parts for current or older tractors. Of course re-sale is subjective, but I would hope if you pay a couple thousand more for a tractor new it would bring a couple of thousand more used.

Kioti tractors do not share anything with Kubota besides they are both tractor manufacturers.

Just because something looks identical doesn t mean it s the same thing that s the best marketing tool that fly by night companies use to market their junk well ours looks like the higher priced whatever but when it comes down to it they re not the same
