Sundown Without The Sun

The sun did not co-operate this evening as I was hoping to get some good sunset pictures with the frost. We had a little at mid day which was
a nice change. At 10 degrees I nearly froze my fingers after a few minutes flying the drone but at least I have a picture or two. It looks like a lot of snow but it is just a thin layer. What the old timers would call "poor sleighing".

That is a Pretty view,,cold but Pretty.... It was 55f here in central Ohio today,,felt Spring like,,and Very wet..

Rusty,
Again so nice. We can see the plow, the pole for the yardlight and the side of the barn fron the previous picture you posted of hoar frost. And the threshing machine shows up in the right central distance. A friend of mine sends in photos to a place that makes a jigsaw puzzle from them. Your pictures would surely make some nice puzzles. We had about 8 inches of snow here yesterday and overnight, but temp is in high 20s F.

Rusty6: Nice place you have. Any of those pond/pooling places called ephemeral or vernal ponds ? I just scraped out a vernal pond and am hoping it works out. They're home to a multitude of salamanders, frogs and other amphibians. I remember seeing them as a child 60 years ago. Haven't seen any for years. Hopefully a few are left and repopulate the hood along with the other wildlife. Gary

Up until last year all those sloughs were full to over flowing but many are now dry. Used to catch a lot of frogs when we were kids but its rare to see one now. Sometimes see salamandars on the road at night time. I've never heard the term Ephemeral or vernal ponds. We had "dugouts" made here in the dry years to catch water.
