Farmall 706 value

So , I?m looking at a farmall 706 gas tractor that is coming up at a auction . It?s NOT running condition . It has a fast hitch and a whide front axle , ok tires . Hours are unknown . Paint looks original
Was wondering what you all think it?s value is worth ?
Thanks

I picked up a non running 282 diesel with good rubber for 2600.00 this summer, see what the other guys say but I would say running 706 would be worth 4500 to 5000.00 maybe a little more if a 310 diesel in good shape.

Is it non running or set up ? Why isn't it running and why hadn't the owner got it running if it's for sale ? Sounds like it might need a bunch of work. Buying something like that is a crap shoot. You might get lucky and it's only something minor, or if you buy it you might be dumping a ton of money into it. Without it running you can't check much else. Trans, hyd, rear end. I would do so more research with the owner. I got burnt on deals like this before.

Getting a non-running tractor running should more than double it's value. 706 gas in good running field ready condition $2,500 to $3,500? Non-running, $80/ton X 4 tons plus the value of the tires and any other salvageable parts, maybe $700 to $1,000?

Are you the one that was asking about converting an M a while back?

IMHO, I would get a diesel if bigger than an M, and non running has real potential to spend more than getting running one.

Well since i know 706's and have bought owned and sold more 706's then the three I H dealers we use to have around here at one time i would have been all over a 706 gasser in non running cond. Now Nope no way . I might take on a diesel this way but not gas . waist of my time and money . Ya want a non running one with a resent new T/A and clutch, new Hyd. Pumps wide ft . 3 Pt really almost new tires . All it needs is and engine rebuild , i am not doing it again .

I have to agree with some of the others - for a non running 706, you're looking at a serious potential money pit.

An H or M is one thing to take a chance with. If they need work, there's a reasonable limit to what you'd have to spend even if everything was bad. But with a 706, there's more parts, and more expensive parts. Unless you can get it for scrap value, the gamble is too great in my opinion.

Buy a good running one, let somebody else gamble for a great deal.
