Field Marshall Series One tractor made here in the UK by Marshall Sons and Company
Ltd Brittania Works Gainsborough Lincolnshire from 1945 to 1947 when it was replaced
by the Series Two model. Single cylinder horizontal diesel engine of 42hp started
with a big handle or a starting cartridge. During WW2 the UK tharashing contractors
were using large American tractors like the IH W9, JD D and Oliver 90 etc using up
to 25 gallons of T.V.O. per day. The Field Marshall could do the same job on 5
gallons of diesel fuel per day. MJ.

Maybe they burned a lot less fuel per day but I bet that they were five times as many days on the job, LOL

I like the Field Marshall advertisement that stated you can plow an acre for the price of a pint.
