50 years ago this month

On a Saturaday in November 1968 I went to a farm estate auction, there was a 1930 John Deere D. I told the auctioner that to start the bidding at $50.00. He said {you really want to go that much} I had $100.70 in my checking account and I had decided to spend it all on the D .
The D was stuck but in very original condition. About a month later my DAD got in unstuck,
about six months later, I decided to get it running, it was stuck again and 49 years it is still stuck. I intend to give to my Son for Christmas this year.

I've long liked the D, SV.

Big tractor in the 1930s.

Roller chain finals that ran in oil and lasted forever.

That is a good story. Think about this.... In '68 that D was 38yrs old and compare that to a 4020, etc. A 38 yr old tractor today is a '80 model. Ignoring all the fancy electronics on a new tractor, probably not all that much different from that '80 but a '68 vs a '30 is a HUGE difference.
