OT: Drinkin' Songs

You all know Dirty Jobs Mike Rowe. Did you see How booze built America? Great 3 part show. Crying out loud everyone was half sauced back then. Did you know our national anthem was a British drinking song??????
national anthem.

Dean, the local radio station here (in Sandusky, Michigan) plays "Country Classics" in the morning, and that song comes on every now and then. I really enjoy hearing it :)

Hundred bottles of beer on the wall, a hundred bottles of beer.....
Take one down, pass it around, 99 bottles of beer on the wall.

99 bottles of beer on the wall.....................

I love Cal Smith's music, and especially that song.
Then there's [b:705ff4d7d4]this[/b:705ff4d7d4] drinking song. Merry Christmas?

I'd never heard of the Malpass Brothers and their band until last Sunday when I heard them at a private party in Prince Frederick. They play old country songs the way the original singers did. It was the greatest two hours I've spent in a long time. Lots more of their music on youtube.

I saved this one, folks, to see if anyone else posted it.

This blockbuster song by the late, great Jim reeves is both heartbreak and drinkin' song.

Such songs often go hand in hand, and neither get much better than this.

FWIW, folks, I've been there.

Funny you say that. 40 years ago when I moved out here from urbania I thought about joining the volunteer fire dept and helping out driving the school buses when the need occurred. Looking back, glad my city job and country life didn't give me time for the privilege.

I once drove a bus and when Pink Floyd's Brick in the wall came on the radio we would turn it all the way up and the kids would sing at the top of their voices. The bus would sway back and forth as they sang WE DON"T NEED NO EDUCATION!

Hers'another song that pertains to drinking but I'm computer savvy enough so one can just click on it to open the video.
