At work, we're getting rid of several Ford/NH 1520s and a couple of JD 790s that have front end loaders, one is 4WD. They've come off the hog farms, so had plenty of abuse, not a lot of maintenance. Anything to look for, good/bad on the 790s!? They're probly 5-6 years old, 1100-1300 hours.

They were last made in 2007 so they are older then that. We bought one new back in 2002 and still have it. It doesn?t get used hard but it?s never broken down either.

Those JD 790s are Yanmar built and tough as any compact tractor out there. I sold a lot of them. Simple gear drive diesel compact tractors. 25 PTO HP and 30 gross. They would be a little older than your thinking. Only made form 1999-2007, so 10 years old at the newest. One good thing is parts are much easier to find for them over the Ford compacts. A lot of the Yanmar built JD compacts share common parts clear back into the 1980s.

Thanks for the input, thought they were newer than that. Might get one for myself and my niece. She and her hubby are building a house across from me and could use a small tractor for projects/finish mowing/grading,etc. Boss told me to find the best one to send to one of our feed mills when I found time to look through them. My wife even agrees we could use one!!
