What did you do today?

Boss asked me if I would go to Lakeville to pickup a container. I was imidiately suspicious and asked why not? Turns out you have to drive down this gravel road.

Up this slippery hill

cvphoto2488.png

Then down the other side and 1/2 mile to the other end

cvphoto2490.png

Then blind side back down this u-shaped driveway without hitting those trees

cvphoto2491.png

Or those trees

cvphoto2492.png

And back around the basketball hoop, between the hoop and camper and car without hitting either and pull that container out without hitting the shed.

cvphoto2493.png

Ok boss!. I did have to get creative to get it out tho since the truck was at a 45? angle to the container. I hooked a chain around a tree to get it to pull straight out from the shed, and later to the side of the trailer.

Then when you get our, take it to this other place and go down this drive without tearing off a mirror or sliding off the edge into the swamp. Lol.

Sweet!
Separates the men from the boy's

Tell him you need to keep a snatch block on the trailer,
Unless he likes buying Chains.

Well Done
Tom

Dang, some folks get to have all the fun!! Do you ever regret giving up the over the road life with your own truck!?

Jon f. Good on you pal! I have done some creative driving when had my truck and trailer. Ed Will Oliver BC

Spent 2 hours chipping one out of
frozen mud. Not nearly as glamorous or
fun and enough work to work up a
healthy sweat in spite of wind chill
yemps of +8?.

I'm spending the day thawing out about 40' of frozen 3" PVC pipe in a crawl space area. Sure wasn't expecting the temps to get this cold this fast. Have had the replacement heat tape, but didn't get it installed in time.

...At least you got paid for your job! *lol*

I like the idea of using a choker chain as a make-shift snatch block. ...Might wanna get a couple of them to keep on hand though.

Whatcha gripin' about, ya gotta day cab :D :D :p :p

Seed salesman was out and finalized the order for next year. Rested from yesterday, rode the Tweed ride in Des Moines and bought raffle tickets to benefit the Puppy Jake foundation. They help provide service dogs for disabled veterans.

Yeah, that does help. But the rear
window is too covered in snow and grimw
to see out of, so that takes some of
the benefit out. Lol

You are just good , I carry a small block or pulley that is just for what you got into pulling side ways. How do you handle it if you end up with the container 4 inches off to one side.

Very Nice,

I am building an automated test system for the controls on the Komatsu trucks.

I guess the controls on each truck are over a million.

Good for you, Jon. Sometimes it takes some farmer mentality to get the job done. It's no wonder why your boss asks you to go to the tough spots--you just get er done. Gary.

I finished shelling corn, even the wet spots!!!! Thanks to the wife running it for a couple hours while I hauled to town. You are a better driver than I could ever be to get that job done. Tom

Nice and clean inside. Was owned by these folks and sold to someone else. We we're just hired to move it.

If it's the front, you just slide the hook to the side and it pulls the front over. For the rear you pull it on til you can drop the front and raise the rear of the container. Then lean a 2x4 against the side so it just catches that lip you see along the bottom. Then when you raise the trailer and the rear drops onto the 2x4 the board tips over and pushes the box to the side. I had to do that on this job.

Rewired the cattle waterer- required shoveling out the corner of the feeding room and the lot by the waterer, removing three panels of the white plastic, two chunks of OSB, cutting two more sections for access, drilling a larger hole through the sill plate, a trip to the hardware store for new direct burial wire and conduit, pulling wire, new thermostat, receptacle and box, then reversing it and putting it all back together. Started about 930 and finished up around 7pm. This was the last project of my vacation and I procrastinated until the last day, gotta go back to work tomorrow. :(

So far, the breaker remained closed, we'll see if the water remains unfrozen tomorrow.

Good job driver! Sometimes things can be fun when hauling stuff for other people, can't they? Tell your boss you won't do it anymore unless you can do it in style with a truck like this, and it MUST have a full sleeper in case you get stuck overnight somewhere.

Finished the outside work shoring up the foundation wall of my sugar house. Hired help bailed at noon, previous commitment, so I irritated my son by asking him to help me. Bolted up a deadman and buried it, then poured five bags of sackcrete to seal the wall to the footer. All in all just a high class Bandaid until I can do the whole thing.

Feeding cows because you northern guys won't close the door. Supposed to freeze the next three nights. The wind is blowing about 30 mph right now. Tony

Geez Jon, talk about a challenge, guess your boss knew who to send for a job like that.

How long is that trailer? How many times did you have to pull forward a bit and re-direct your steering a bit? I didn't know there were any roads that small in Lakeville. What part of town is that?

Went to the local stockyard to watch the feeder calf auction, wanted to see how cheap they where selling.
Some were mine. Buck twenty to buck twenty eight for 5 weight, had some light 4 weights bring buck forty five, could have been better but it'll get some bills paid.

If it didn't have angus in it or had any defects or horns they where jerking your shorts off, watched a crazy spike horned 600 lb heifer sell for nineteen cents per lb, holsteins were selling for forty five to sixty four cents.
Felt sorry for the dairy guys.

Are you an electronics engineer? Your task sounds interesting. Does that mean hardware and software in a system? Do you travel to the factory to deliver, connect up and train others to use the system? Do you work alone? Do you need help?

Sorry, I didn't answer your question !! I attended a funeral (was one of 6 casket bearers) of a longtime friend. Had a wonderful noon meal after the funeral. Then drove a school van on a 1.5 hour trip out and back. Lastly spent 2 hours helping out with a Samaritan's Purse project that our church does.

That looked like a tricky job where a lot could go wrong. I hope you don't have to put another one back in there.

Well done you. I was feeling bad because I drove 24Kms. (one way) to pick up some special order parts - only to find the joint closed - Memorial day long weekend.

I butchered the deer I shot yesterday.(archery) I waited for it to warm up outside, but it did not, so the meat was hard to cut. I had to bring it in the house to thaw it out. I had hoped that my GF would show up to wrap the meat, but she did not. By time I brought that meat back into the house, it was very stiff also. I re ground the burger so that I could package it.
