O/T - Farm related need opinion

I am very dissatisfied with AAA. I think if you have just a car they are ok but I have been let down twice pulling a gooseneck trailer even though I have AAA plus and RV coverage. Does anybody know of a good alternative to AAA for roadside assistance if you are pulling a trailer? Thanks

I have had Good Sam Roadside Assistance for many years. I had a transmission explode on a car at Little Rock Arkansas and tow bill paid in full. About 5 years ago we were in Rockford, Illinois with a 34' Class A motor home when the transmission quit. It was a Friday evening. We got the motor home towed to a campground. Next morning the same tow truck came and towed us to a transmission shop that would repair it over the weekend without charging extra for weekend. This time tow was over $900, no charge to us. My pickup serpentine system locked up in Indianapolis at Friday rush hour on the Interstate. They located a Chevrolet dealer that could fix it yet that evening. Towed my pickup and 28' gooseneck (Thankfully empty) no charge to me.

Even if we get out of the RV life, we will probably keep the Good Sam service.

If you are a "big shooter" with the wherewithal to have/pull a big gooseneck trailer you need to be prepared for any issues that may happen, IMHO.

Simply a "cost of doing business".

And if it's not for business/making $$$, hobby stuff ain't free, either.

Suck it up, buttercap!

Jealous?

All AAA and Good Sam are is insurance. Long as someone is willing to pay for that insurance what's wrong with that?

Most businesses carry insurance too.

Only difference between that and crop insurance is a government subsidy!

At least he's willing to foot the entire insurance bill.

Your post makes no sense at all. Did I complaint about price? No. I do however want to the best value for my money. You said you ?need to be prepared for any issues that may happen?. I think this is what I am doing. I am not aware of any other companies so I thought I would reach out to my fellow tractor enthusiasts and farmers for ideas to see if there are any other alternatives that better fit situation. So, I think there is really nothing to suck up but thanks for your opinion buttercup.

I'm of the same opinion tj, should be services rendered for services paid for, regardless of what those services may be. Very irritating to pay for something and not get it.

I'm curious what they didn't do that you thought they should? I've thought about AAA, but they pay the service guys so poorly that I don't think there is a AAA wrecker within 50 miles of my house. If your policy says you should be covered for the issue, then you should be.

Check with your vehicle insurance company.
They might offer what you seek.
At different levels added on to your policy.

I have AAA and it says right in details if you are pulling a trailer the trailer is not covered, only the pulling vehical. Either the trailer is left at side of road or you pick up extra cost to have it towed. Did you specify you were towing that type and size trailer? I am sure the tow truck when he got to you was not expecting a trailer of that type to be involved and was only expecting the truck and that was all the size he could handle. For a trailer of that type they would have needed a commercial truck towing place and not a car towing place. I have asked about a trailer as I do tow a bumper hitch camper or 16-18' implement trailer. And I do have the hundred mile tow package.
