Trouble with farmall super A

Tractor runs intermittently. Acts like someone shuts the switch off. Tractor has a magneto and has a 6 volt coil. We replaced points, rotor, coil, and distributor cap. We are reluctant to take the mag off and replace the condenser.

When tractor stalls we have put volt tester on various connections and get 6+ volts to coil but no spark at the plugs. Point gap on new points is set at 13 thousands.

If you get 6+ volts at the wire coming out of the side of the mag when the points are closed, they are not conducting. There shouls me milli volts or no volts at that terminal
when the points are closed and the ignition is on. I assume you are using the mag as a distributor with an external coil, not the mag's coil. Jim

Sure sounds like a bad condenser. It will get worse. You can mark the magneto location then pull it and it has to go back right if you don't turn the engine.

Mag and 6 volt coil?? So do you really have a mag or do you have a distributor?? A mag work with out battery power and it you have a battery hooked to a mag it will burn out the coil in the mag. So what do you have a mag or a distributor system

You don't have to remove the magneto to replace the condenser. You do have to remove the coil as the condenser is under it. Then remove the
the metal clip holding the condenser in place and slide the condenser all the way to the back and it will come out. This is for a
magneto...........

Still not sure though if you have magneto or distributer.
