OT - Remembering . . . .

I used to be able to forward things like your post to friends. Now with all the "improvements- updates" I can't find the option to do that anymore. Good memories, notice how the kids are dressed up.
 
Yep, used to watch it over at my cousins house.

She was 3 years older than me, don't think I was supposed to be watching it!
 
There is a book from 1957 that showed the dance steps to learn

I used to watch it with my sister, and we danced to the songs all the time. There were several "regulars" that participated in the dance contests, one was Joan Buck. When someone asks me how I like something, I still sometimes respond "Nice beat, easy to dance to, I'd give it an 85". By the way, I think the dance step picture Paglenn posted is the Continental Stroll. And even though the "oldies" were only 5 or 10 years old at the time, Dick would introduce them with "See. . . if you remember this one."
 
Yup channel 6 out of Philadelphia. Can remember some of the kids looked like they were bored out of their minds.
 
Now we have Dancing with The Stars, or, So You Think You Can Dance. Amazing what they can make a TV show out of anymore.
