What is this crop?

I took this while I was either in Northern ND or MN. Can't remember which. As little black seeds in it like Chia.

Perhaps I worded that incorrectly. Canola was not created using genetic modification. Canola is a type of brassica created like most other crops, selective breeding. To say canola is a GMO version of the brassica family is incorrect.
While there is a RR variety, it's no different than corn, alfalfa, beans, etc... There are traditional and RR varieties available.
