Old Kohler Engine

I have an old Kohler engine that came off an asparagus harvest machine. The engine is about 7 or 8 horsepower, and has a wrap around rope start. The motor runs good, but I am not sure what to do with it. What other kinds of machines were these engines used for? I want to sell it, but not sure what it is worth.

First year IH Cub Cadet if it is a seven horsepower engine.
The model number is on a data plate attached to the blower housing.
It may also be cast into the block above the crankshaft.
If you can get that big flat belly pulley off and measure the
PTO end of the crankshaft, you would get better answers.

As noted, on some cub cadet tractors, and it also fits almost any situation needing that Hp and horizontal shaft. $50 is probably about all you will get, unless you find an individual needing that exact model. Jim

As previously stated cub cadet, also troy built rototiller. Its a great engine and easy to still get parts for. I would pay 50 if you were close.

I'm in west Michigan. Earlier this year I spent $105.00 on the little motor in a shop getting the carburetor rebuilt, and a tune up. I never used it on anything....I have a lot of stuff for the motor that came off the asparagus harvester that I have no use for either.

I thought perhaps a rototiller, but was not sure. Your'e right though...it is a great little motor. It starts easy and runs really good! I just don't have any use for it, and was not sure what to sell it for.

I saw a 20 HP Kohler reported to be in good condition sell for $7.50 at auction yesterday. It's all about finding the person that needs your engine. Find that person and you might get $50.
