Local guy has a 99 Dodge 3/4 ton 4wd, says the "fuel rail" has problems. I believe its a V8 gas. Not being up on Dodges or modern stuff, what might the problem be and is it a hard/expensive fix? I'm told it runs and I see he's moved it but that's about all I know. I need at least a 3/4 ton truck for field use.

Brett,
I had to replace the fuel rail on a 1991 v6 Grand caravan. It wasn't cheap. I
think, not sure, been a long time ago, cost over $600. Can't find a used one.
I was told you could damage fuel rail by taking it off car. It was a problem
with fuel rails back then.

I got rid of all my Dodges and went to GM, New buick 2005, New GMC truck in
2007.

I had issues with 1990 and 1991 dodges transmissions, valve guide issues and
fuel rails. After replacing the transmission on 1991 3 times, and fuel rail,
I decided its time for a change.

Oops, I noticed you said a gas engine. Sounds like the same fuel rail system of injection still applies
though. Anyways, good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I remember some issues with the plating inside the fuel rails flaking off and clogging injectors, but I thought that was on earlier model vehicles from Dodge so not sure if a 99 would suffer from that. A used one should be easy enough to find.
