Any really good ideas on how to bond rubber to steel . Lets say you have a flat faced adjusting bolt and you wanted to put say convair belting on it for say skip proofing and a little anti vibration of a table saw . What would you use for the bonding ??

Maybe some Loctite 404? We used a lot of that stuff in the factory where I used to work. It is pricey, but a little goes a long way.

3M 5200 Marine sealant. I just discovered it last year and it is by far the best I've found. Among other things, I use it to glue the soles of my work boots back on. That repair job has lasted about a year and is still holding.

After putting hardwood flooring in the house, I had trouble finding anti mar feet for the recliners and couch. Tried a couple different glues and rubber, nothing would stay for long.

I bought some studded anti vibration mounts, cut them half into. The rubber is vulcanized to each end, so far they have worked great, don't slip, don't scratch.

I've been around table saws all my life and I can't picture needing any rubber anywhere unless it's a portable saw on the bottom of the feet. Lock washers work better for bolts.

3M # 08609 windshield install urethane is used where windshield is structural part of vehicle.
Save the left over in the freezer for next project.

I am not sure how big of an area you want to attach the rubber to. If it is solid flexible rubber super glue will do it, but make sure every thing is clean. Use isopropyl alcohol or lacquer thinner the clean the metal. I reread your post. I think you meant conveyor belting. I used to take solid rubber belts and joint them with super glue. I have also attached vacuum cleaner flat belts and attached them to around aluminum wheels to use as drive tires. The main thing is that it is fast. Use nitrile gloves.

I hope some day in the future YT will restore the editing function. It is not always easy to write and edit before submitting. I always make miss-steaks and don't catch dem till later.

I bungled the sentences in my previous post. What I did was take flat vacuum cleaner belts and if I remember correctly slip them on 3 or 4 inch diameter aluminum wheels and the wheels were about 3/4 inch wide. The superglue would really bond well with the belt and aluminum. Anyway it was the kind of belts used on the beater drive heads of wand type vacuums.[/quote]

Also look at "rubber bumpers" at the link above.
Likely much less $$ and many different mounting choices.
