Same here. When I spent a week in the hospital I could never get over an hour of sleep as the nurses were always coming in to give me pills or take some test.

Last time I was in the horsepistol they sprung something new on me- a bed with mattress that had several air chambers. Every once in awhile (just about as you get to sleep), a little pump would come on and some chambers would deflate and others inflate. This was to reduce bed sores. I was only going to be there for one night- as I told the nurse, I wasn't any more likely to get bed sores in one night here than I was at home.

Ever since I was hospitalized in 2011 for a mitral valve repair,I have not slept all night. I blame it on the nurses waking me every 2 hours or less around the clock.I have tried sleep aids-which only make me groggy the next day-but none work for me.I actually retired early in 2015 partly because I was so miserable by Friday. Now I work part time Monday,Tuesday, off Wednesday ,Thursday,Friday.Mark.

When I was in the hospital three weeks ago the bed was so uncomfortable I didn't get much sleep anyway. And I couldn't take my arthritis medicine so I wouldn't be comfortable in any bed. I almost welcomed seeing a nurse come in to check up on me just to have someone to talk to. For the first three days I felt so bad I didn't have any desire to go home though.

During my most recent 10 day hospitalization, I couldn't sleep in the bed. I simply couldn't get comfortable, so I spent the whole ten days in a chair.

My uncle was in an accident, and nearly cut his nose off. After the plastic surgeon repaired it, there was considerable swelling, which exacerbated his already terrible snoring. One night, after waking himself up at least twice and falling back to sleep, the nurse woke him up from a dead sleep and asked if he needed something to help him sleep! His reply was "Yes, I need you to get the he** out of my room @ 2 AM!"
